Well, I seem to have sorted out all other problems, but I still can't get the PHP Accelerator to work for some reason. Whenever I turn it on, every forum/topic page you go to, it forwards you right back to ultimatebb.cgi. I checked the cache folder, and it doesn't seem to be doing anything there at all when the Accelerator is on. The board is functioning fine with the Accelerator off. Also, the Accelerator test shows everything being OK.

So this is rather baffling... it all worked ok before we moved the boards, but this new system has a newer version of everything, so I don't know if that could be a problem somehow. But everything else on the server is completely unproblematic. Any ideas?

Are there any errors being reported by ultimatebb.php, or are you seeing n=??? in the URL?

The first time you visit a topic, it will kick you to ultbb.cgi because it needs to cache the page.

Nope, no errors whatsoever, nothing in the url either. I realize that the kick to ultimatebb.cgi once is normal, but in our case, that's all that happens with the Accelerator on, with every thread/forum page.

Ok, do you have firefox? Grab it, and install the livehttpheaders extension. This thng is an absolute treat and makes it easy to see where your browser is going.

http://livehttpheaders.mozdev.org/

Between that and your regular access logs you might be able to figure out what is really happening here, and then perhaps, why.

And if not... well, you learned something <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I'm not sure how that's going to help anything... I think it's pretty obvious a part of UBB connected with the accelerator is not working here for some reason. It's not like the board is spewing out any error notices or anything... I was hoping Charles could narrow down what to look for, there must be a few things on the checklist that he'd look at first. Considering this is a busy live board, I can't have it online in a messed up state and fiddle with it, hoping I'll get somewhere - I've done that too many times over the past few weeks, and people aren't very appreciative of the downtime.

Edit:

I just checked the access log of yesterday when I tried to make the accelerator to work: nothing is logged about UBB. The only thing about UBB is from today, in the error log, and something weird at that:

[Thu Sep 23 01:46:53 2004] [error] [client 200.82.40.73] File does not exist: /var/www/html/server, referer: http://domain/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
[Thu Sep 23 01:46:53 2004] [error] [client 200.82.40.73] File does not exist: /var/www/html/dat, referer: http://domain/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

This is repeated in the logs about two dozen times over 10 minutes. But that's it as far as UBB is concerned.

The original symptom sort of makes it sound like the Accelerator can't get to the query string variables.

I'd suggest a support ticket.

Yup. Though we'll probably bug you to upgrade. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
