I recently upgrade my server from Red Hat 8.0 to Red Hat Enterprise. On both servers I am using Perl 5.8. Also using Apache 2.0.

I am using UBB 6.05 on it and it works fine. I am also using UBB.classicTM 6.5.0. While the later forum works fine in Red Hat 8.0 it is not working with Red Hat Enterprise. The 6.05 is working fine on both.

The error that displays is as follows:

Can't Exlock '/var/www/html/www.xx.com/ubb/ubb/cache-Y436RBCT/lock/global.cgi'. The operating system has run out of file locks
to give me.

In an earlier thread there was talk about installing a Perl locking module. If anyone could direct me to this module or assist me in some other way I would appreciate it.

Please consult with your system administrator regarding the error. The file lock is failing because the operating system has no locks available.

This is not a UBB error, it's a problem with the OS.

Do note that there are a number of issues with 6.05, especially in the file locking area. We would highly advise upgrading to 6.7.2 once the issue is resolved.
