My UBB.classic (latest version) went down a few hours ago, and I'm still waiting to hear from A Small Orange to see if they made any changes on the server. All my other sites are fine, just the UBB is down.

I'm hoping maybe these lines in my error log would provide a clue as I wait. Any ideas what could have caused this? Because all was working just fine until the server went down and back up after a couple minutes. What's FastCGI?

[Mon Jul 11 12:59:14 2005] [error] [client xx.xx.xxx.xx] FastCGI: incomplete headers (0 bytes) received from server "/home2/gbb/public_html/cgi-bin/cp.cgi"

[Mon Jul 11 12:59:14 2005] [error] [client xx.xx.xxx.xx] FastCGI: comm with (dynamic) server "/home2/gbb/public_html/cgi-bin/cp.cgi" aborted: (first read) idle timeout (30 sec)

[Mon Jul 11 12:59:13 2005] [warn] FastCGI: (dynamic) server "/home2/gbb/public_html/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi" has failed to remain running for 30 seconds given 3 attempts, its restart interval has been backed off to 600 seconds

My greatest fear is that they upgraded something on the server than UBB.classic doesn't like! And with 3000+ members, I don't like the downtime. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Server:

Operating system Linux
Service Status Click to View [all OK]
Kernel version 2.4.21-32.0.1.EL
Machine Type i686
Apache version 1.3.33 (Unix)
PERL version 5.8.0
Path to PERL /usr/bin/perl
Path to sendmail /usr/sbin/sendmail
PHP version 4.3.11
MySQL version 4.0.24-standard-log

Anything look suspicious? Also - They're thinking of upgrading to MySQL 4.1 -- would that effect UBB.classic in any way?

Thanks for any clues,

JG

Okay, after 3 hours it's been resolved.

"It appears your script got hooked into the FastCGI handler somehow. I've corrected this and it should be working fine now."

Unsure how that happened... (or what that even means - LOL)

"I think the upgrade of Rails on Ruby today may have caused it. I'll be sure to go over the procedure so that it doesn't happen again." (whatever that means...)

For the record - UBB.classic does not run under FastCGI. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
