Hey everyone,
I'm new here and I couldn't find a suitable forum, which is why I placed my question here.
I am thinking about purchasing a license for UBB classic and install it on my website. However, browsing the net, I read a lot of negative things about UBB classic. SOme say it's dated and old-fashioned, some say it's slow.
Personally I like the look and feel of UBB classic much better than other boards (for example vBulletin - which I also own a license of - is too blown-up for me, with hundreds of different features and the whole board looks very confusing and irritating to me). UBB looks much cleaner in my opinion.
So, now it'd be cool to hear from you what the benefits are. What can you say against the negative comments I read about UBB classic?
Why should I get a license?
Thanks for your constructive feedback. jamie

Slow? Only if you had a few hundred users online at once lol... Plus the UBB is, eventually, being ported over with UBB.Threads into the "Next Generation" product which has yet to be named (numerous threads on this can be found in announcements). Whereas the UBB doesn't have the "largest" feature set in the world it does have a large development community over at www.ubbdev.com where you'll see the majority of the question answerers here at constantly <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> ... I know of a few "large" forums using UBB.Classic, you can go test them out for "speed": www.undergroundnews.com - mine, of coarse i'd drop my url any chance I got www.nightly.netwww.netwerkin.comwww.thegardenhelper.com

Thanks for your reply.
The forums on the websites you gave me seem to be really fast indeed.
One more question: is it possible to e-mail all members via the admin panel? I've just installed the trial version and nothing seems to be there which indicates this could be possible.

Yeh, simply find the member or members you wish to mail through the "Member Management" screen and then at the bottom of the list you'll see a dropdown that will allow you to email members (as well as a few other functions); it'll allow you to email users or export a list of email addreses for you to use a 3rd party script to send mails out.
I'm not sure what version the trial is based off of but I doubt it's in the 6.7.x series.
