I am getting ready to upgrade my 6.5 to 7

In the end I would like to have it in the same folder as I currently use.

Do I just:
Close my forum
Back up database/existing files just in case
Upload all the 7 files into that folder bar the includes folder
Run the importer

Or is it better to
Put 7 in a new folder
Back up database/existing files just in case
Run the importer
Make sure its all working right
Rename new folder to old folder name and edit the config.inc.php

The easiest thing would be to backup your database and all files of your existing install, then remove all the files of your existing install. You don't need any of the version 6.x files files, not even the includes folder. Do a full install of version 7 in that folder and then run the import script.
