Just curious as they have been mentioned in the past. wink

Figured I'd answer this here. I was going to put in a bit more, Payment options and possibly the blog, but since I'm trying to keep the releases fairly quick, I probably won't squeeze those in. The gallery feature took a while and also still trying to work on importers as well.

I'll probably schedule the payment and blog features for 7.3, and focus on getting some smaller things into 7.2 so we can get into a private beta release sometime in the short term.

Makes sense to me, as in Blog + Payment together.

Gallery and Tweaks will keep me happy wink

5-23-2007: 7.2 Feature: Added a control panel option to send out Happy Birthday emails on each user's birthday.

Nice touch wink
Would be nice to see an option to send a reminder of a private calendar event too?

Will this option have there age in it?
will there be a language file place for this.

I just like asking questions, instead of waiting lol.

5-23-2007: 7.2 Feature: Added an option to limit the number of attachments/photos a user can attach to a single post.

Great idea wink

I would love to see the diffent locations for uploading file types.
Seeing that a gallery is coming along, and video's are taking us all by storm, the abuility to put a video file in one directory on the attachment block and a photo in another would make it easier to manage bandwidths and hotlinkers.

So downloading say video's isnt going to give you a huge bill or over bandwidth problems you can act.

My thoughts smile

Yeh, I had several clients dislike that people can attach an unlimited ammount of images to a post (they have a lot of users who just attach attach attach)... So Im glad this is making it in.

And yes, video attaching via stock code (via 3rd party prviders) I think is becoming a nesessity :ahem:

5-22-2007: 7.2 Feature Change: Replaced the screen to show all user's posts with a new version. This new version doesn't use the search engine code at all and also has an option to give a view showing all topics the user has started. Thanks to Ian Spence for sharing the code for this.

That Ian guys sound awesome!

Rick,

Two things I'm checking on for v7.2:

1) reworking the search engine to allow better functionality. Saw something about allowing v6.5 capability?

2) "jump to" within the threads (posts #177771 & #178442)

TIA.

Rick mentioned he was re working the search engine to work one way or the other.

Jump too, you can do that now, click on the post icon and you get a direct topic link in the url.

Thanks Mark. I didn't explain the "jump to'. The problem we're having is when readers go to a thread, sometimes they're sent to the last post made, sometimes to an earlier page, but never to the start of that thread. I know this is a feature... and it works most of the time correctly... but we have just as many folks complaining because it assumes where someone should start reading the thread based on their last view. We would like the option to "always start at the beginning of a thread".

5-23-2007: 7.2 Feature: Added a new permission for individual users to be able send/receive private messages. Admins will always be able to send private messages to users even if their ability to send/receive is turned off.

I'm assuming that users w/o general permission to send PMs can at least reply to the Admin PMs, right? And can they initiate PMs to admins as well? Perhaps everyone should be able to PM admins...

They can reply to admins a pm that an admin has started yes. But as it stands right now they can't start a new one to anybody. We could change that perhaps depending on how everyone thinks this one should go.

Personally I don't think that is particularly important as there are links to the admins on every page of the site Contact Us.

we have changed it on our board to be by group, because we sometimes have to put mis-behaving users in 'jail'. when they are in that group, they lose: PM, Search etc.

it's a sort of punishment wink

Speaking of PMs, does 7.2 solve the issue of writing a PM to someone... only to find out that his inbox is full when trying to send it?

I think that in Classic you were instantly informed that that the user's inbox is full before you could start typing your PM.

I haven't seen a changelog posting about the inbox full issue; i have heard that we'll be able to pm users with "non standard characters" again though...

When you first click the Send PM link or add a user to the list of recipients it will check to see if their inbox is already full. It was always supposed to do that, however some of the javascript problems that were there before the rewrite prevented that from happening.

5-31-2007: 7.2 New Stylesheet Class: Added a forum_extras class. This will be used for the list of moderators or subforums that are displayed underneath the forum descriptions on the cfrm page.

Would be nice to see the colours also in Who's Online, Shoutbox etc....

That way members/guests can quickly see if an admin or moderator is online.

I cant see it in the change log?
Did the embedded video's make the cut for 7.2 ?
You know the youtube stuff?

Good to see the "Rick Tags" made it wink (See above lol)

I really think that the 30 Day Top Posters should make the
default product. Its the best Top Posters hack ive seen.
Its normally not the same, and its much better than the current
top posters where Gizmo will always sit at the top.

My thoughts wink

If it doesn't make the changelog it's doubtful it made it in this round; can't say much more...

Shame really as its transformed the way our members source information.

And its a feature that doesn't seem to be happening with other
forum software (User Feedback).

Everyone Loves it wink

I'll normally add a couple popular hacks/mods each version. This version I'm trying to wrap up and get to the beta testers. Would like to do a release roughly every 3 months, but with the time on the importers this round it put me a bit behind.

The embedded video stuff will have to wait until 7.2. I need to reorganize the markup panel and then add a new markup panel button for the embedded video options.
