A user got the following error message, and wasn't able to post without turning his firewall off. Obviously, he doesn't want to have to do that. He never had a problem on Classic, nor any other BB he's ever been on. He says his host is Verizon. He's going to test some Norton/Symantec settings, but in the mean time, can you recommend any? He says adding the domain name to his trusted list didn't work. Says it's not the firewall itself, but the Privacy Control feature in the Security Client.

We cannot proceed.
The host from which you are accessing the board is not recognized as a valid host. This is more than likely related to a firewall issue that is blocking the referer variable. Check your firewall settings and try again.

Please use your back button to return to the previous page.

He adds: "It seems weird that in order to post, I have to allow it to see my browser history and such, but that's the setting it seems to need, or else I get that error. So I don't know. I don't care as long as my ports are still stealth and such, this is fine."

You can turn this off in the control panel in the primary -> advanced settings if needed. In UBB.threads we do a basic check when posting to make sure the post is being sent from the forum itself and not being submitted by other means. In order to do this we need to see the referer variable (this basically says what page they were on last before submitting the post).

Its likely a norton setting (that i've seen in the past) but if him turning off his firewall fixes it then its a dead giveaway.

There should be a web options section which should mention something about a referrer check.
