Can the calendar show certain events to only specific user status types? We would like to use it for public information that everyone would see such as Users Conferences, Holidays etc as well as for private employee only info like meetings, vacation time, etc.
Can a custom island be used to display a mini calendar?
thanks!

I think that the only user types with the ability to post public entries are Moderators and Administrators; it'd be nice to expand this to a new user group as well...
not sure how that'd work with a new user group, theres a couple of ways of doing it: 1. New users are added to the new group by default and you can remove their ability to post in the calendar by removing them from the group. 2. You must add new users to the usergroup to enable their ability to post.
Myself I'd pull for #2 should this ability ever be added.

Thanks for responding, but I think you misunderstood my convoluted question... or maybe I just didn't understand the answer. Can the calendar show certain events to only specific user status types? I would only want Employees(moderator & admin) to be able to post entries on the calendar. I would want the entries themselves to be marked somehow as public or private. Public, as in, everyone can see the entry. Private, as in, only employees can see the entry. Can a custom island be used to display a mini calendar? thanks again, richard

Ahh, I was thinking you wanted groups to be able to post to; reading from you could set it to admin/mod or just registered I don't think this has the current ability to do specific user groups to view.
You could customize your own custom island to do just about anything that any portion shows, it all depends on your level of coding skill... Again I don't think this is in a default coded block.

Thanks for the clarification.
I still haven't installed yet and wanted to wait until I found these issues out. Now I just have to decide what I need to do.

Well, the code for each sidebar section is stored in a template file (what you see) and a script file (how it works); you have full access to hacking both of them; so you should be able to take the raw code from one and copy it to another and have the same functionality... Then it just requires being able to tweak it to your liking...
