Too many connections! I haven't seen that in years. I have my max connections set at 2500.
When I go to My Home, I get this:
Script: /home/rickbin/public_html/ubbthreads/myhome.php Line#: 54 SQL Error: Can't open file: 'w3t_Messages.MYI' (errno: 144) SQL Error #: 1016 Query: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM w3t_Messages WHERE M_Uid = '20' AND M_Status <> 'X' ORDER BY M_Sent DESC
I'm having them reboot for the second time.
Can you help, please. I have a magazine ad hitting, and I think the first wave hit.
Rick

That appears to be a crashed or corrupt table by the 'errno'. You can try to repair it by running the following SQL command:
REPAIR TABLE w3t_Messages

Guys:
I'm having major mysql problems.
I couldn't get the above repair to finish.
This morning, I woke up to a Too Many COnnections error. Upped it to 5000.
Then, Cannot reach server.
Now, this:
Script: /home/rickbin/public_html/ubbthreads/ubbt.inc.php Line#: 579 SQL Error: Can't open file: 'w3t_Online.MYI' (errno: 145) SQL Error #: 1016 Query: REPLACE INTO w3t_Online (O_Username,O_Uid,O_Last,O_What,O_Board,O_Extra,O_Read,O_Type) VALUES ('RickBin','20','1162613383','ubbthreads','','','','r')
My other two mysql programs are working ... phpprobids and osCommerce.
Ubb threads is broken.
Help please!!!!
Rick

Now it appears your Online table is corrupt. Fortunately everything in there is just temporary data, so to fix that you can just run this SQL command:
delete from w3t_Online
It sounds like your server is getting hit pretty hard. Since you can change the max connections I'm assuming this is a dedicated server. Can you provide any specs on it? I'd also recommend upgrading at some point.

Rick: Thank God you're there.!! Yes, it's an AMD 170 with two 250 GB SATA II, and 4 GB RAM. Server stats are usually pretty sedate (see here( http://www.24hourcampfire.com/stats.phpI"m in negotiations now with softlayer to kick this up to a dual CPU/dual core AMD 270 with the same hard drives and RAM, BUT, I'm not sure if this is my problem. All I know, is mysql took a huge dump. BTW, my mysql DB is almost 1 GB (926.39 Megabytes). Off to run that command and see what happens. Rick

Ok, try a repair on it.
REPAIR table w3t_Online
The server looks good on the specs, but it could be that your MySQL configuration needs some tuning. Can you tell me what version of MySQL you are currently running?
If the repair works on that table we can try converting it to a heap table (basically the table resides in memory instead of being written to a file). We're going to be doing this by default for version 7.1, but this will also work with earlier versions.

OK, have my admins working on repairing the tables, actually the entire database. Here are the server specs, Rick:
General account information: Hosting package dedicated Dedicated Ip Address 208.101.1.82 Subdomains 0 / unlimited Parked Domains 0 / 20 Addon Domains 0 / 5 MySQL Databases 4 / 50 Disk usage 0.00 Megabytes SQL Disk usage 926.39 Megabytes Disk space available Unlimited Megabytes Bandwidth usage (current month) 16654.46 Megabytes Email Accounts 7 / unlimited Email Forwarders 11 Auto-responders 0 Mailing Lists 0 / 10 Email filters 0 Ftp Accounts 0 / 25
General server information: Operating system Linux Service Status Click to View Kernel version 2.6.9-34.ELsmp Machine Type i686 Apache version 1.3.37 (Unix) PERL version 5.8.7 Path to PERL /usr/bin/perl Path to sendmail /usr/sbin/sendmail Installed Perl Modules Click to View PHP version 4.4.3 MySQL version 4.1.21-standard cPanel Build 10.8.2-RELEASE 119
Also, I THINK, I have my-huge.cnf (renamed to my.cnf) as the config file. I'll be glad to post my mysql variables if you can give me the correct command.

PROGRESS!
The repairs worked.
However, I put up a post, and it does not show in the forum list, nor in Past 24hours. In the Main Index, there's a link in parentheses showing it's the last post put up in that forum, and THAT link takes you to it, but it's not listed in the forum or in Past 24 Hours.
Now what?
(And THANKS!!!!!)
Rick

Can you send me a PT or open a trouble ticket with the url to your forum along with the admin info? I'd like to take a closer look at a couple things.

Just read that and realized it may have come across wrong. Not YOUR hands, but someone in cyber-land who may have received that first PM. Thanks again. Rick

No, the original PM just got sent to yourself and didn't include me I changed the Online to a heap/memory table which should end the corruption problem with it. I see that you defintely had a pretty good traffic spike recently Max users online was 825 @ 11/03/06 11:06 AM The machine itself seems to be doing ok. Pages are being generated nice and quick, with no real slowdowns on either the php processing or the SQL queries. I think a good tuning of the mysql.cnf file might help a bit. This isn't my area of expertise however. Perhaps we can get a few others to chime in. I know there have been a few good posts about mysql tuning. I'll see if I can drum those up.
