I'm running an old version of Photopost (Perl version 2.52). I'm running Classic 6.7.1.

I can't wait to give my users one log-in that works for both parts of my site.

Besides upgrading to Threads, I want to update my Photopost.

Not being a SQL expert, my question is what is the best order and method to do the upgrades? Do I do Threads first, then upgrade the Photopost? Thanks for any tips.

Both run (as stock) independantly, so the order in which you upgrade them shoudln't matter; its when you apply the integration options that you should make sure your UBB is upgraded prior to trying to integrate PhotoPost

Mitch-
We have been running UBBT 6.x with Photopost for a few years and the integration is pretty solid.

As for your scenario, you have a large number of photos in photopost that are currently attached to PP users (and subsequent user id's). For you to move to an integrated login for both PP and UBB you will have some challenges with the historical data in regards to user id's.

So as gizmo said, your first step would be to upgrade to UBB 7. After that you will need to make a 'map' of old PhotoPost user id's->New Threads User Id's and update your historic data accordingly.

It will be a bit of work, but in the end you'll have the integrated login!

As I said, I'm not a SQL expert. That being said...

I already have a SQL database for my Photophost users.

When I upgrade from Classic to Threads, should I use this same SQL database?

Or, should I create a separate SQL database for Threads. Get it running, import my classic baord, then deal with the users who have the Photopost accounts.

I'm just a little unsure of the order of the steps.

Thanks for any tips.

Use a seperate db if possible; espeially if you intend to use the same table prefix.

Basically:
1. make new db.
2. Install UBB.T7 to the "Create Admin User" step.
3. Run the importer (do NOT create a user on the above step)
4. After the import, you can dilly dally with the photopost integration from the photopost folks addon.
