Not sure if this is the right forum or not...
All of a sudden I have several of my users complaining about MSN popups. Here is a common complaint.
_________________________________________________________________- Whenever I come on here in the last two days, I get a pop-up asking me to sign into an msn community. Or when I changed pages on here, I get it too.
I'm not signed in to msn. I'm not part of any communities thru them. And it only happens with this website, none of the others I frequent. Any one else getting this?? What should I do?? _______________________________________________________________
And here is another one. _________________________________________________________________ Welcome to MSN Communities! Please sign-in with your Passport account. This is the message I get inside a box asking me to put in an e-mail address. At the bottom it says Passport Microsoft Net and when I click on help it takes me to Windows Live ID - this is the only site I am getting it on too. It is very annoying as you have to keep Xing it out. __________________________________________________________________ I can't imagine it is the UBB software, but I wonder if anyone else has run into something similar? winter

That's an odd one. While we do have a profile field for MSN we don't do anything beyond displaying it in the profile. Can you post the URL to your forums so we can take a look?

I do see one problem. I have no idea if it's related but you have an invalid onload statement for the body. For starters, go into your control panel -> Display Options -> General -> HTML Includes and clear out the Body Onload box. What you have in there should just be in your forum title.

Done. I will ask the users if that fixed the problem. Thanks again, winter

Hmmm...I'm still having users run into this problem...of course it is only limited to users who are using IE. If anyone has any additional thoughts I would love to hear from you. Thanks again, winter

Well I've browsed your site with IE6, IE7, and FireFox 2 and I don't get any popups. Maybe your IE users have popups from other spyware scum that is already on their systems.
I know it's not easy to do but they probably need to work on cleaning their systems.

It's my thought that there must be some sort of setting in IE7 when you've upgraded MSN to a later build (only path that makes sense).
It's my thoughts that there must be a setting in either of the two products that reads a name and tries to message it or something similar, but in either case, as you've said it's a smalls ection of users, so chances are theres a little more that isn't being provided to you (either with their environment or what they're doing for this behavior to happen)

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts. It does appears to be IE but users have reported it with both version 6 & 7, and it appears to be related to their MSN account. Since it does not appear to be related to the UBB software I will try to help them on an individual basis to clean up their systems (like having them install and use FierFox!).
Thanks again!
