[img]http://tkfiles.storage.msn.com/x1pI...89yl1pdFf9R9pKTwRCaxwLGYHU2QNWLbbm7HZcMA[/img]

that graphic won't show inline

all that shows when you put it in the [img] tags is this

[img]http://tkfiles.storage.msn.com/x1pIjpkUX...U2QNWLbbm7HZcMA[/img]

the board software truncates the URL and shows the tags.clicking on the url goes to the image fine. but nothing shows inline and the link to the image is truncated.

is this what the latest dec 3 bug fix fixes?

Images need to end in .jpg, .gif., or .png

It's always worked like that.

With a URL like you presented, you're better off using [URL] and having people click on it to see it.

There is a setting to say how big the image can be before it will no longer display it as an inline image.

Go into your control panel and modify it to a bigger size if you want.

Hmmm after reviewing the actual link and trying it on my own board I would have to agree with him.

I don't see any reason to limit the length of the URL for an inline image display.

It's not like an old IE hack to overflow the url length.

Unless someone can present a valid argument as to why it is limited then I'd like to see if modified as well.

.
DOH! Never mind.. I see what Geoff is saying now.

The URL has no ending extension.

Okay - I agree with Geoff now wink

I don't think he's talking about attached images; he's using the [IMG] tag. Besides, "Max Size for inline uploaded images" is for file size (kb), not dimensions (px) wink

Long URLs are truncated when displayed. That's normal, intended behavior. And his link is being treated like a URL (and not an IMG), because there's no image file extension at the end of it.

I myself like the abilities listed here:
1. URL's being trunicated if their too long.
Why: because you'll throw off your page width if allowing huge urls.

2. Images aren't images if they don't have a valid image extension.
Why: Whats to stop someone from saying that an image is a php file... then again you could adjust apacheto use an image extension as a php extension...

I'm actually curious what would happen if you where to set .gif as a php extension on a server and then put a javascript popup in it, I wonder if it'd even work lol...
