We've had posters who go and re-open old topics so the last post date prevents us from killing old topics....Any suggestions?

Not that I know of.

It wouldn't make much sense (to me, anyway) deleting threads simply because they were created before a certain date, without taking into account how popular/active they are.

agreed, the more food that you can supply search engines the better, deleting old threads seems foolish to me...

Moving them to an archive forum is a great solution that i see, but most people just like to delete them frown

I had to delete threads early on, maybe 1-2x/year, cuz I'd run out of disc space. :/ But since I moved to a new (cheaper, better) host 2-3 years ago, it's been no problem keeping them all. cool

If "coleslaw" needs to delete threads for the sake of space, that's one thing. But I still would prune by last post date rather than topic creation date.

Just found this thread, sorry for the late reply...

I just go in and lock old threads. That way, old ones cannot be resurrected.

Unfortunately, locking each one takes a lot of time.

Or do as you did and move to another Host provider with more space.

Though a button to run a SQL command to LOCK all threads that have not been replied to in X amount of days would be a cool option for some I suppose.
