We've just upgraded this site to beta 2 of version 7.1. We'll be running this here for awhile before we release this to the Members Area so all of you can test out the new features and find any problems that need to be addressed beforehand.
For a full list of changes for 7.1 visit the ChangeLog
A basic list of changes you'll notice on the front end:
New Active Topics Format
List of Search Bots on the detailed Who's Online Screen
New text style post buttons, to help support the multi language feature.
Option to leave a reason for editing, when editing your post.
Indicator for the number of new topics/posts in a forum.
Mood selectors - you can change your mood in the upper right corner of every screen, next to the Logout link.
Online Indicator - You can see who's online when viewing their post along with their current mood.
Sort order selection at the bottom of the list of posts for each forum.
New Option in your profile to show relative or normal timestamps.
PHP/Code/Quote blocks should overflow properly in IE.
Please note: We currently do not have CAPTCHA enabled for registration or guest posting. CAPTCHA will require either ImageMagick 6+ or GD2 with freetype support compiled in. It just so happens on our live server we only have ImageMagick 5 and do not have freetype support compiled in. This should be addressed soon.

Took awhile because I had to track down the fact that we had an older imagemagick installed on the live server. No other issues besides that.
You may need to shift-reload to get the new images, you might have the old ones cached. Since we now support multiple languages, graphic only links didn't work out to well.
I hope you'll install another language on here so we can test that out. I'd like to see how that will work, and whether there's much additional overhead in the software.
GangsterBB.NET (Ver. 7.6.1.1) PHP Version 5.6.40 / MySQL 5.7.23-23 (was 5.6.41-84.1) / Apache 2.4.54 2007 Content Rulez Contest - Hon Mention UBB.classic 6.7.2 - RIP
I'll probably install Zarzal's german translation once he gets to finish it for 7.1 No additional overhead, since we were always grabbing the language strings from the language files anyways
Also, edited my original post so you can get a quick idea on changes that are visible in the front end.
Right now I have custom titles for general users turned off, but might end up turning that on....not sure yet how everyone will abuse that one
Looks nice, except the active topic with preview ... This looks too clusterd. I prefer a topic preview in a mouse over popup or an option to disable the text preview. I also miss an option to display all post in the last 24h - not even topics. This was in old Threads 6.2
/edit ... ah, I see that the text preview is part of the last posting in the topic up to the fist br. This can be hard if people post huge text without it ... so an option should be available to prevent this and shorten the preview text up to xxx chars.
I like the who-is-online screen. I do an 7.1 translation in german soon as possible. Good Job

I'm with the guy with the very cool avatar!
I like the idea of the preview (it's how I decide which topics to look at! ;)), but I'd also like the option of turning it off to appease those who don't want things *spoiled.*
I also have to agree that the active topics w/this preview does look a little cluttered, too.
Explained what's happening there. I have setup a new forum for issues concerning 7.1
You *may* wanna consider combining that into a bugs/suggestions/feedback/etc forum... it might make things clearer in the long run, keeping everything by version rather than general categories for "bugs" and "suggestions"...
Just an idea...

I agree it looks a bit cluttered.
Too add to your suggestions:
- Maybe a divider between topics will help separate them better visually - Perhaps collapse the post content (show all/none), tho I like the rollover idea, too
I wish I could remember how it was in Classic, because that seemed to work nicely...

Sheesh, you changed that a second after I first looked at it? Nice - Perhaps a light bgcolor to help it stand apart, but otherwise a step in the right direction!
PS - The behavior is different in IE6 & FF2. In the former, the popup is vertical, in the latter it's horizontal. Hmm, I kinda like it horizontal the way FF displays it. What about IE7? ( )

Might want to take a look at installing either Microsoft Virtual Server or VMWare Server. Both allow you to install virtual operating systems for free as long as you have a license for the operating system.

I too prefer how it was in classic, tho how Rick had it prior to the change was much closer to how it looked in classic
I'll have to find an active classic site to show - hard to find now tho :smash:

Current way makes for some interesting text. I see this on one:
