Something I would like to see is a draft feature. Similar to saving a draft in an email. I sometimes find myself trying to make a long post during one of my breaks, but run out of time and have to either dump the whole thing or copy it to notepad and save it there (preferably not due to shared computer at work) and come back later. If there was a way to save a draft for posting later would be, I think, an excellent feature addition.

Make out a PT to yourself (and only yourself) with the draft. wink

hmmm okay I see both you and Gizmo refer to PT - is this the same as PM (Private Message) or ???

Yep. Private Topic since it's now the same as a private thread instead of the old single private message.

PT seems quite rediculous for this scenario. Ok, so I want to write a topic which may take a while because I can only write while I am on break, so I send myself a PT 2,3,4 times or more? Now I have 2,3,4 copies of a PT? You're missing the point entirely. Suppose I'm writing an article. A PT is not the answer. The ability to save and edit and eventually submit is what I'm getting at, not a workaround like you suggest. Been doing that for a long time. This was a suggestion for improvement to the software, not a question on how I can improvise. I have that covered, but thank you for your feedback just the same. I would like to hear Rick's thoughts.

You can edit your posts in a private topic; most of us power/beta users use it as a notepad; simply don't add anyone to the discussion and you have yourself your own private galla of notes/thoughts.

You can save and edit your posts in the PT, then when you're done, edit the post and select the content and post it on the forum. It is a perfect answer to your request, as it will be a draft in every form, since it'll allow you to save it without anyone seeing it, and test formatting prior to posting.

Yeh, I was initially posting it as a bug, but seems that was how Rick intended it, and I've grown to love the ability hehe

Yes, I understand what you're saying. And yes, it is certainly a viable option, assuming that an administrator elects to allow the use of the PT system. Suppose an admin does not wish to allow a PT system?

It was only a suggestion. I was just providing feedback/suggestions as the category of this forum suggests. That's all. I am a veteran WWWThreads user from the PERL days, and have used the PHP version since its' inception, and have been a UBBThreads user since the name change. I am only trying to provide input for future versions which may improve the product. Rick can take the suggestion and do as he pleases. My suggestion has been submitted. But thank you all for your responses, none the less.

Relax Fishtails - don't think anyone is slamming you. I too think it's a great idea (you don't know how many e-mails I've lost on Hotmail due to similar issues of no draft saved)

But since your idea is not here already and you've brought it up, others are chipping in on how you could do work-arounds at least for now.

You may already know this but others probably don't is all.
Check most of the suggestions and you will see there are often work-arounds suggested. That doesn't mean that the idea is scrapped or not looked at.

It's a discussion board which means both ways.
