Cleared the cache still the same.

If this is due to new styles needing to be uploaded
due to the upgrade, the upgrade script doesnt ask
or inform you to upgrade a style sheet.

I am having fun 7.02 -> 7.1.4b smile

There are new images for the posting buttons, so you'll need to make sure you upload the new images in the images/generic/default and default_dark directories. We can't check for these currently in the upgrade process because there is no way to compare version #'s on an image wink

/images/general/default
/images/general/default_dark

They look strange in my setup as dark,
as the boarder of the "button" is the same as
the back ground.

Will try and sort that now.

Trying to find an example of the code used i
impoorted "ubbthreads_1"

When i clicked contiune, (Using FF for design work)
i revieved the following errors.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /xxxx/xxxxx.com/forum/admin/importstyle2.php(94) : eval()'d code on line 1

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /xxxx/xxxxx.com/forum/admin/importstyle2.php(101) : eval()'d code on line 1

Then the page auto refreshes and i recieve this one
on a blank screen.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ',' in in /xxxx/xxxxx.com/forum/styles/10.php on line 11

-----------
Anyways in my Style i found the correct style setting.
Style Settings/Post Properties/post-buttons

background: #252D8B;
color: #252D8B;
padding: 2px;

But i need a boarder ??
How do i add that as there is only the icon and
text the same colour as the background.

Any Examples please? grin

"border" covers top left right and bottom.
"border-left" "border-right" "border-top" "border-bottom" should cover the individuals.

Habbit frown (Dont like it when they go off the page). :end lol
But i can write really long ones, that can go on and on, but ive found that users with older displays see things so diffrent and any pre formatting has gone out the window with them, i guess it started with classic and kinda stuck, sorry just my way of writing posts.

border: 1px solid #FED51E;
color: #252D8B;
padding: 2px;

This is what i get. See Attached.

Customising the .css
Gizmo posted its seems to be ok now.

I originaly had

border-left: 1px solid #FED51E;
background: #252D8B;
color: #F8AC13;
padding: 2px;

So i changed the colours from what Gizmo posted in the
7.1 discussion thread.

border: 1px solid #FED51E;
font-size: 9pt;
font-weight: bold;
color: #357082;
background: #252D8B;
padding-left: 2px;
padding-right: 2px;
padding-bottom: 0px;

And it now seems okay In IE7 & FF smile

Yes, border effects all sides; whereas border-left, border-right, border-top, border-bottom, all effect individual sides.

It can be fun to tweak with hehe...

I recommend w3schools for anyone wanting to learn about CSS; i use them to look up various paramaters.

???

Don't think so as I still don't have images showing.

I also have WAY TOO BIG of ToolTip fonts on mouse-over. The fonts are black and the tool-tip mouse-over is black so can't read it either.

Using he Koniro style sheet as the default and it worked well before.

Well I suppose it must be the Styles folder or some other location as once caching dies out there are only links now and no image buttons.

Viewing source page seems to show the folder is correct

src="/forums/images/general/default_dark/toggle_open.gif"

You'll want to edit the style. Misc. Properties - .popup_content.

Here's an example that I grabbed out of one of mine:

Code
background: #ffffff;
font-size: 9pt;
color: #000000;
border: 1px solid #999999;
padding: 0px;

Also for your new images not showing, the local browser cache needs to be cleared.

No, they go in /images/general/ not /images/forumimages.
(BTW - Rick meant images/general rather than images/generic)

If you look at the images on this forum, such as this [Linked Image] which replaces the [Linked Image from gangsterbb.net] button, you'll see that they're located in /forums/images/general/default/*.gif

GangsterBB.NET (Ver. 7.6.1.1)

I also played with the special link properties to get the post buttons to show the hover with a different background and link color inside.

You may want to consider importing the ubbcentral style sheet for 7.1 as a guide.

You can find it in the Forum Styles section.

Have cleared all cookies, caches, etc.

So as Harold says I suppose I have to edit .CSS as part of the upgrade process (well that is not smooth for an upgrade)

Just sort of sucks that I have to modify the CSS in the first place on an upgrade that is only 1 beta behind.

If you go to post properties, post buttons in the style you need to add as stated. This is the code Rick used for this default style sheet here. Starting with beta 4 they are no longer using images for buttons.

border: 1px solid #AFC2C7;
font-size: 9pt;
font-weight: bold;
color: #357082;
background: #FFFFFF url('http://www.yoursite.com/ubbthreads/styles/images/ubbthreads/header_grad.gif');
padding-left: 2px;
padding-right: 2px;

Just signed up on your site to see -- the images themselves are showing up fine. So yeah, if you want them to look like buttons, like on this site, you'll need to adjust the styles... the default style doesn't include that as the images themselves were buttons...

if that makes sense lol

I don't have duplicate image and link anymore I only have links. NO images showing for buttons just links in other styles besides the default.

Wish I had known that before I upgraded now people are pissed off.

It takes some patience. I matched most of the post buttons and popup content of each style to the characteristics that you see in the "My Stuff" drop down.

Again, I see the images on your site. They just don't look like buttons, because that's not part of your current stylesheet... unless I'm misunderstanding the problem...

Again, I see the images on your site. They just don't look like buttons, because that's not part of your current stylesheet... unless I'm misunderstanding the problem...

Well the Kornio one is used by most people and when the board was on 7.02 it looked like buttons.

I made no changes to the Kornio Style sheet and now it no longer looks like buttons.

From what everyone is saying though it appears to be due to all style sheets now needing some minor updates.

If you use this code and remove the backround it will at least show a box around them.

border: 1px solid #AFC2C7;
font-size: 9pt;
font-weight: bold;
color: #357082;
background: #FFFFFF url('http://www.sugarglider.net/ubbthreads/styles/images/ubbthreads/header_grad.gif');
padding-left: 2px;
padding-right: 2px;

Understood now. And it makes sense when you think about it.

I like that Kornio one - it should be your default. And the text links don't look half bad with that one, actually. (I'd just add a little space between them)

Okay are we talking about which .CSS file here.

ubbthreads_1.css

or

koniro_1169365344.css

(names as created by the import routine)

Both files are in the /forums/styles/ folder

Go into your control panel-->styles chose your style and edit. Under post properties you should see post-button. Add it there

Being that those are 2 separate styles, you'd want to add it to both -- or whichever styles you want in that directory to alter in that way...

Edit: Yeah, gliderdad's way is definitely safer!

Thanks guys.

Styles - Edit Koniro - Post Properties - .post-buttons

Will have to work on making it look nice again and not flat.

Okay along the lines of style sheet maybe.

Here and before the upgrade. If you click on Active Topics past 24hr you get the column header titles.

Subject Forum Poster Posted

On my forum the Forum and Posted are not showing now.

The data is there but not the title on the column head

Tested the Default Style sheet and it too has this issue so not sure what the root cause is but doesn't seem to be caused by the Koniro style sheet.

Weird... cuz it's rendering as:
Code
<tr>
<td class="tdheader" width="35%">
Subject
</td>
<td class="tdheader" width="25%">

</td>
<td class="tdheader" width="15%">
Poster
</td>
<td class="tdheader" width="25%">

</td>
</tr>
and not showing the titles at all... and the TD classes are all the same.... confused

Well then that is more than a tweak that is a BUG and a big BUG (IMHO) if you have to go resetting all style sheets then there better be a B6 or RC1 before release. I can understand broken things in a beta, but to me this behavior is not very acceptable for a Release version whenever that comes.

This behavior invalidates a lot of the hard work the original author of these styles put into them.

It's not really a bug, tho -- it's just that new features were added, so the styles had to be altered to accommodate them. Technically, I assume, you should only have to alter the new parts which are:

.post-buttons, is specified under Post Properties and is used for the various options when viewing a post, such as reply, quote, etc. We're no longer using just images for these since we've reintroduced multiple languages.

You can install a 7.1 style sheet as a new sheet, then look into it to see the new properties that've been added. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes I would think, working with them side-by-side...

(Of course, this isn't counting that problem you're having with the column names in Active Topics - tho as you said it doesn't appear to be a Styles issue)

It might be due to some customizations. We have one Admin that does some mods now and then.

For now I'll wait for him to come online and see if he can take a look at his mods and fix it.

Though I did overwrite all files with the contents of the upgrade.

That would do it, there were some files re written for the 7.0. beta 4. I had to redo all the mods I had, Ian Spence re wrote the post in 24 hour mod I did so it would be compatible with beta 4 and up

Yes, but one would think that if I overwrote ALL files that it would have invalidated any mods. It did remove a couple of mods I know we had.

Nope have not added any back.

Just set the board to :

Quote
Show Relative Timestamps:
This will show timestamps relative to the current time if within 48 hours, such as '5 minutes ago', 'Yesterday @ 2:30'

But that appears to be ignored as well. Logged out, back in - removed cookies, still seems to ignore and use absolute times for me.

Your personal preference for relative timestamps will override the board default. The default is for users that haven't logged in.

Well I wasn't logged on. I was on as a Guest and there was no relative displayed.

Just set my personal to Relative as well. So the board and my prefs are both set to Relative, but there is no relative being displayed.

The active topics looks like a language file didn't get uploaded. Not sure how it let you go through the upgrade script without it, but the languages/english/activetopics.php language file appears to be missing or empty.

Hmm, I'm visiting your board not being logged in and I'm showing relative timestamps.

My new board had permissions errors originally but once I fixed it that went fine. On Korg it had no permission issues that it showed, only a timeout.

I'll check, or upload the one from the 7.1B5 zip.

Yes, actually just now it is showing that way. Weird as I rebooted the server, delete my cache and cookies and no change. Now waiting a few minutes and going back on it looks to be working.

I think maybe I was confused as it does say TODAY but I was expecting it to say like 2 hours or 4 hours ago.

User misconception blush

Check it via the CP and see if any fields are blank -- it seems that's a new language file altogether as I don't have that one for 7.0

It's showing up now. It almost appears that there were some caching issues on the server side. I visited earlier and the text wasn't there. Visited again, and it's there.

2. Logged out from board
3. Rebooted Server
4. Logged back in
5. STILL NOT WORKING
6. Wait another 15 minutes no changes made
7. Now looks correct

Maybe clearing the board's cache via control panel would've cut those steps down a little... wink

Roflmao, Well after I do an upgrade I install what mods I have(I know they work as I test them on a test site prior to going live). After all mods are in and before I open my board back to the public I clear the board cache via the control panel. Only a hand full of people had caching issues with their browser.
