I'm still not liking all those unnecessary horizontal scroll bars Just don't update your stylesheet with the ie7 fixes; I don't plan to. FF2 does yeh, darn ie7 computability with the default stylesheets...

IE has typically had issues with displaying CSS per the Standard so there is code that is designed to check your browser and if IE .x is found apply a specific fix to view it correctly.
I've not reviewed the code in detail though myself so I can not point out the exact fixes implemented.
Community MX a site for Adobe products used for Web Development though has some good articles on how to fix code for all browsers and they show like 15 different browsers and all appear to look the same when used with their coding.

IE has typically had issues with displaying CSS per the Standard so there is code that is designed to check your browser.... Problem is, that "corrected code" also screws up everyone else If, after like 10 years, M$ can't figure out how to play nice -- by the standards set forth -- then I'm about to stop worrying. And if *everyone* stopped worrying about supporting IE (cuz they can't play nice), then, eventually they will crumble and fall like they should (IMHO )

When you upgrade to UBB7.1 the stylesheets are left unaltered; the "ie7 fix" for the code and quote areas that rick provided (and will likely re-provide when its final) are style updates; basically if you do not preform these updates (you must do them manually, so if you have not done anything then you didn't do them) you won't have the behavior with the bonkers scrollbars everywhere.

I'm the standards nazi, i feel everyone should follow them; but someone bashed me before about how no one follows standards and that i needed to get off of my high horse and stop whining about ie inventing their own standards that ruins everyone else's good fun...

I'm ALL for standards... just I'm for *real* standards, NOT what the biggest company on the planet (M$) *thinks* should be a standard. And trust me - I don't pick on M$ cuz they're Microsoft - I pick on them cuz they try to change the standards, and make life increasingly more difficult for those of us who try to create web sites or forums or other apps for the largest audience we can.

The W3C was made to house standards, by all means, everyone should use them as such and for such; vs inventing whatever they want to do lol...

BUT, at the same time... I do NOT like how they dismiss previous tags (well, even those from like 10 years ago) that used to work -- if it used to work (even blink! haha) then it should STILL work! There's no bigger nightmare of a mess right now than the embed/object fiasco. WTF? What used to work no longer does. And, what should work... doesn't either! Freakin' %$Q@#!@$^$!#~~!!!!! If you (M$ for one, of course ) can't be backwards compatible... then cya!

They're not "dismissing" them per say... as many people say, there are a million ways to reach the same conclusion; they simply remove what is redundant and go for the more powerful alternative...
haha, theres somehting funny about that, embed and object cannot be xhtml compliant unless you know what you're doing... I ofcoarse do when I try (I've never seen a fully xhtml compliant flash embed code, other than the one i spent weeks customizing for my personal use).

Meh! Even standards-ridden Firefox 2 still supports BLINK -- and God bless'm! lol (Warning: Of course not fully compliant with IE7 :/ )
