Is it possible to allow a post to be notified more than once?
When a second person tries it say "All ready been done" or words to that effect.

The reason being that we just had a Notifyed post
and the reasoning was poor behind it.

But i recieved a PT from a member wanting to Notify that
same post, but gave me alot more information about the
situation.

Notify 1 = decided to let it go (Stay).
PT = Post was removed.

So is there away to allow more than one Notify per post?

Currently, that would be a negative. Once a moderator has been notified of a post, then it won't allow further notifications to prevent the mods from being spammed.

Not that I use it much but what about Moderators to send to other Moderators or Admins ? Maybe allow them to for forums they don't Mod.

I actually think it'd be beneficial to have each and every report go thru -- If I got 10 complaints about a particular post, I'd notice it faster and consider it high priority. I'll also get specific comments from 10 different people why they think the post sucks. Heck, the first person could've "reported" how much he liked the thread. wink And the first person reporting a post might not be a Mod - and Mod feedback is important to me.

But I stress again, on a related subject, I *really* think everyone receiving the email should be listed in the CC: or To: fields of the email, so Admins know who's getting a copy -- but more importantly, so we can hit Reply and discuss the matter amongst Mods without the need to look up email addresses... cool

I found that i was reporting posts as a Admin to Moderators
more than what members were.

I found it usefull as a training tool for new moderators,
not knowing where to draw the line.

An acumulation of Reported posts does give you more
of a insite into its content.

The way it worked in classic was spot on.

And in classic ive never suffered from any spam with this feature.

Personally i would see it as a positive to get as much feed back as posible about a topic.

Most reported posts i found were comunity baised were someone
was having a dig at someone else, but it was more of a stealth attack?

So someone may report it as

1st
"Watch this Member there is history with xxx"

2nd Report
"Would you please remove this post, as its a dig at me"

As there is as always a fine line between an Opinion and
someone being rude or offensive and its the members who
let me know.

I even get reports saying

"pmsl"

And under the current system,
if "pmsl" was the first Reported post, then i would have
no idea of its context or its hidden content.

Thanks for reading smile

I object entirely, I don't want an email being sent to me as a mass mail to allow others recievingf it to see my email address... think of automated bot registrations; can you say "look, i'm feeing your emails to bot traps" anyone?

Okay so Bcc in a email if everyone is listed that recieves it.

But would you agree that its a good idea or not
that a post can be notified more than once?

Huh? Classic worked that way - did you have a problem with it then?? confused

If a member reports a post, all Mods for that forum get a copy of the email. Great. But before, we (the Mods) could see all the recipients of that email. Now we can't.

I have no idea what you mean -- in this case -- about "mass mail" or "automated bots" or your own Mods seeing your email address. We're talking about Notify (Report a Post) aren't we??

Who else receives it besides those you already trust (Mods)??

When someone reports a post, and I know all the Mods assigned to that forum received it, why can't I see their email addresses so I can hit Reply to talk to them -- without going thru extra steps to look up their email addresses and all that anyway? BCC defeats that purpose. If you don't trust your own Mods with your email address -- you can use a generic forum email address y'know -- then why are they Mods?

When I reply to the reporter directly, of course I copy all the Mod addresses into the BCC -- but that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about the email notifications sent to the Mods (only) from Threads.

--

And yes, I think an email should go out for every report, not just the first one, for reasons I already explained. wink

Classic never divulged user email addresses in a to or cc, it sent things BCCed

i don't think i used the warning system myself, I was thinking on behalf of sending out mass mailings.

I still say however that these items be BCCed vs anything else; at least since I run a community what ultimately has to have systems in place to not provide email addresses to anyone for any reason (and I think most users like and appreciate it that way).

So all along you've been talking about something totally unrelated to this topic? tongue

Mass Mailings is another issue entirely, and should be discussed separately.

My statement rests. And hopefully Rick notices it. Cuz it makes perfect sense. And that's how it's been (for me and all Classic users) since Day 1.

cool

I say in general, never should email addresses be divulged.

An example; one of my admin's works for the US Census, and yes his email address is a work one, I don't want my moderators or any others seeing his email address (and as we run a security community there could be some alarming suspision of a staff member at a .gov host lol).

...but it's his decision to use that email address. He could easily use another one. THAT should not stop the entire process that (I thought WE) Classic users are accustomed to....

My point was made already. smile

And please - if you cannot share email addresses amongst your own Mods, then, frankly, they shouldn't have been made Mods to begin with... :/

I'm just saying email addresses should be private, to everyone, reguard; it should be considered a privacy issue none the less (I mean, i have no problem staffing at sites, but don't want *my* email sent to everyone)...

And look at it this way; what if your mods don't always agree? you're looking at giving users who hate each other a way to reach each other outside of your forums...

Or how about users that are underage and staff? It's a coppa issue there to provide their contact information to others...

I guess I just lucked out w/ my board. I picked Mods that I actually trust, and actually became friends with - so obviously I trust them.

I can't really imagine another scenario, like having Mods I didn't even know or trusted, performing duties on my board, on my behalf... yet not being able to trust them to *handle themselves* in an appropriate manner with EMAIL of all things...

:/

Dag.

Anyway - at the very least - I want a CP *choice* then, to visibly CC all Mods, via email, for *every* occurrence of a reported post. And an option to not. wink

haha i could go with a *choice*...

I have mods whos ages range 13-40... Obviously some of the older mods don't like the younger; and obviously I don't want any trouble either on or off of the forums wink... At least i can monitor it on the forums lol

Well...

My board's been around since '01 -- and there's myself (Admin), my #2 (was Mod, then made Co-Admin), then another Mod of *some* of my forums, another Mod of 1-2 of my forums (but he's now deceased), and 1 other Mod for 1 forum as a tribute.

Needless to say, I don't have much overhead. lol

But one thing I will say is - I sure don't pick Mods willy-nilly at all! If I don't trust them - if they haven't been around for a while - if they haven't demonstrated a true propensity to handle it - and importantly -- if they *ASK* to become a Mod on my board w/o fulfilling those requirements ...they won't be a Mod on *my* board until they meet those requirements... wink

As you can see there is a general mood from a few of us to have
the abuilty to "Notify a Post" more than once,
as it is a feature that we miss.

And you can read the scrap above to decide how e-mails
should be sent bcc or other..

Please consider this for a future update please.
I would like to see it come back.
Thanks.

Got to say I agree with multiple notifications. But needs to be a maximum of one from any one member, to save people repeatedly clicking on the link to cause trouble.
