I can't access the database now as my server provider is having a problem giving me the extra 1200 Mb of space.
Once I am connected again, will it be OK to reload that step?

You *should* be able to. It's a bit unknown where it died since it basically sounds like it ran out of space. If you have something like phpmyadmin installed, what I would do first is see how far it got by running the following command:
select * from ubbt_VERSION
that will tell you if it got to a certain step of the altertable before it hung up.

Seeing that it looks like my backup attempt failed, which I didn't learn about until after I reached this step, I pray this works.
Is this the last step?

Yes, the altertable is the last step of the upgrade process.

How long it takes depends on the size of your forum. I wouldn't imagine it should take more than a few minutes on most forums.

My board runs in a timeout/ server error 500 while processing this step. I wait a minute, press reload and the process ends clearly. *lucky man*

You are, therefore, saying that this is the longest step?
How long is long?

It is still eating up space.
Does that mean it is doing something good?

If it keep on doing that, I will run out of space again as they only increased it from 800 Mb to 1200 Mb and it has already used up 1063.4 which now seems to be decreasing. ????

I am able to access the site.
I was also able to go into and read a topic.
It is still doing that step though.
Does this mean that the step has been completed even though it is still hung up in that step?
It shows 7.1 on the bottom.

Everything seems to be working OK, therefore, I am going to take a chance and stop that step, as it seems that it has really accomplished its task.

I stopped it and received the following message:
Updating database to version: 7.1 If at any time this step times out you may just refresh this screen and it will continue.

It sounds like it was creating a temporary table for one of the steps. You don't want to stop it until it says it's done. When finished it will give you a list of steps and what it actually did, I believe 12 in total.
Yes, this should be it's own topic. This is just meant for basic discussion on the release.

I am now trying to figure out why the database increased from around 316,000 Kb to 503,622 Kb, the bulk of it is ubbt_POSTS.MYD and sql-ad3_a35b7.MYD

Rick,
You may want to move all these offtopic posts and create a new topic out of them.

By the way, it didn't list any of the 12 steps, but it did complete the upgrade but left a weird large database myd file behind, which Rick in a PM says he doesn't know what it is, therefore, shouldn't it be safe for me to delete it myself, if I can, or have my host delete it for me?
