I have tried to import/convert from my 6.7.3 Classic 3 times this morning and each time it fails to move or show any threads/posts once it successfully completes.

Install of 7.1 works great. Installed, configured, tested. No problems.

So, no I removed the 7.1 database and directory structure.

Created a fresh database.

Reinstalled 7.1 but stopped at the "create admin" user.

Close my Classic board.

Begin import using UBB.classic Import Script Version 4.0 (May 27, 2006).

First problem encountered!

The 1st screen where you provide the absolute paths to Classic, I input all paths correctly. Then submit.

I get the following error(s):

"You entered the wrong path to the members directory"

I have my members directory located behind my web root at "/var/www/vhosts/tndeer.com/Members" It's been here for years.

So, I moved the entire Members dir. up and under my ubb home directory at "/var/www/vhosts/tndeer.com/httpdocs/ubb/Members" and the importer will accepts this, then complains about the cgi-bin having a "wrong" path. It is also behind my web root. I likewise move it up to the ubb home and then the importer will proceed.

The importer runs to completion with out any noticable error. Once complete, it prompts me to login into my new 7.1 forum.

Great, the members are there, so are the categories, and forums. BUT there is NOT a single post or thread in any forum??

Help?

Humm strange, as the method you describe was the same
for me and i didnt have an issue.

Can you access the database, if so can you see topics
and posts?

I'm sure this has come up before way back at 7.0
and it was rick that sorted it.

He's pretty handy on the sql querys.

Try a search in further back in this fourm,
but i think your going to have to start a ticket.

sorry i cant be any more help than that.

"/var/www/vhosts/tndeer.com/Members"

try

"/var/www/vhosts/tndeer.com/Members/"

extra slash at the end.

Mark, thanks for the quick response. I just gave it a shot with the / at the end and it don't like it either... sucks...

what version of the importer are you using?

Also, I can access my database just fine. Any ideas on what tables I need to check out?

Take a look at the ubbt_TOPICS and ubbt_POSTS table. That is where all of the post data should be stored at.

Rick,
Both of these tables are indeed empty after an import. The import script when running (it runs about 20 mins) appears to be working fine and is doing thousands of queries and you can see the topics being passed on the script output as it runs.

All the categories and forums are fine, looks perfect. Just no posts are present.

I can login and make a test post, and then the posts and topics tables are updated with that one test post.

I've run throught the process 5 times now, even loaded the older 7.02 and had the same results.

Still dont understand why it does not recognize the members and cgi-bin behind the web root either.

Thanks!

Any errors during the import ?

This sounds very similar to a problem i had.
I solved it by changing the chmodes:
directory chmode 777
files chmode 666
(in the old board)

I had the same problem.
But it worked for me moving the complete /cgi-bin directory into web root (before: /var/www/vhosts/url.com/cgi-bin after moving: /var/www/vhosts/url.com/httpdocs/cgi-bin)

Firstone,
What directories in your old board did you set to 777? which files to 666? All of them or just a few targeted files?

I saw no errors during the import.

Thanks!
