I'm running Classic 6.5.0. Web host was running php 4.4.4 and upgraded to 5.2.1 I was using the UBB Accelerator to enable PHP but had to disable it because instead of see my boards I get the following error: Fatal error: Cannot re-assign $this in /home/lcficmbs/public_html/ubb/ultimatebb.php on line 91 Upgrading is really not an option. The boards were working fine until the PHP upgrade. Any assistance on this would be extremely helpful. Thank you. AMCiotola www.lcficmbs.com

You could file-compare the differences between 6.5 and 6.7.3, but that's really not recommended as it would affect other parts of the scripts too.
There are security holes in older versions of .classic, including 6.5, that have been fixed in 6.7.3. It's highly recommended to upgrade as it only takes one script kiddie out on spring break to delete your forum.

Please don't take this as me being rude, I am really just being completely honest and to the point here... Your choices really are thus: 1. Upgrade to UBB.Classic 6.7.3 2. Upgrade to UBB.Threads 7 3. Don't use the PHPAccelerator
In short, UBB.C is dead, it reached End of Life some time ago, no one is working on it... The lead developer for it isn't even with the company anymore... There isn't really much anyone can do about it not working because there is no one with the knowledge of the product that CC had.
It's also not recommended to run UBB.C 6.5 due to the security issues; I know a lot of webhosts who disable sites for refusing to upgrade when the owners KNOW of security issues within the software and just don't feel like upgrading.
Basically, people get hacked for running older, buggy, versions of software; hell, some probably have been and just haven't noticed... Some troll probably sniffed the (plaintext) passwords out of some old member files via a malicious php script that they snuck in through a security hole... Knowing how a lot of people think, the password may be used for other things (even in some cases ftp password for their site)... Dangerous things there, those (plaintext) passwords and buggy code...

Acually I tried re-installing my board and replaced the $this with $thisthat and I got to the first step of the installation but when you click the go to next step button it just refreshes the page. I can't imagine that the code in the diferent versions are that much diferent, however I cannot compare 2 versions side by side because I only have one version. Obviously there is a solution to this problem because the forum that belongs to the original poster of this thread has his up and running at version 6.5.

You know, when I worked at the webhost several years back, and we where the main contributer for a cms system, we sent out update emails to every client when there where some severe upgrade warnings... Users who refused to upgrade when they where warned where at times suspended, or termed on the spot for violating the AUP for not keeping their webspace secure (these users where generally warned several times)... Those who we didn't term, where quickly hacked and begged for assistance, it was quite entertaining...

I just needed some help with the version that I have, and thought since your organization created it and lets not forget made plenty of money from it that you would have the answers. let me make it clearer for you I DON"T WANT TO UPGRADE TO ANOTHER VERSION this is your software therefore you're obligated to support it. You don't just make a new version when the last one fails. I would like to have my board back online WITH THE VERSION THAT I HAVE please provide me with the means to fix this or direct me to the original creator. And please no more silly and idiodic replies.
My version: UBB.threads 6.4.0

Ok, let me make it more clear. There is no support for that version. Period. You can call me any name you want. Every name in the book. Good for you. Hope it makes your day and makes you feel just great to call someone that you never met idiotic or silly. Doesn't matter, doesn't change the policy. There is no support for the version you are using. 03/30/06 03:05 PM - UBB.classic will no longer be developed, and an end-of-life date has been set for June 15, 2006. From that date forward we will no longer develop or offer support for UBB.classic. The latest release of UBB.classic will remain in the Member’s Area as a courtesy to license holders, however.
Please note that if you are a current UBB.classic license holder, you do NOT have to stop using the product after June 15th. We are simply informing you that as of that date, we will no longer be issuing any product updates and will not be offering any support. You may still receive support for the product informally in our own support forums or via other sources. If you wish to continue to use an older version that is no longer unsupported that's your choice, but you will not receive support for it.

Closing this thread as it's gone it's course. Gunman, you tagged on to a UBB.classic thread and now you've said that you actually have UBB.threads 6.4? If you have threads then you really need to start a new topic in the threads forum as this original problem has nothing to do with yours. If you actually have classic, then it's been said plainly enough that we no longer support it as the announcement stated a year ago.
I will note this. If you are running threads and you are getting this it's because earlier versions of threads were not compatible with PHP5.
The classic forums are here as a courtesy for classic users to help each other when they can.
