I don't have an explanation for this...
When I changed the RSS feed settings, all the feeds were rebuilt. When they were rebuilt, the "Posted by" string was missing before each author. Later, after they were rebuilt on the timer, the "Posted by" reappeared! Somehow, there must be a difference in how they're built, but I don't see it in the code.

I'm on 7.1.

Possibly the system that updates the items for a hard refresh is using a differant set of data than the automatic rebuilder... I think would need looking at none the less

Looks like this was just a small problem with one of the language files. In the languages/english/admin/generic.php file there is a line that has:

$ubbt_lang['POSTEDBY'] = "Posted by";

That should be:

$ubbt_lang['POSTED_BY'] = "Posted by";
