Nearly ready to take the plunge.
I'm interested in this Captcha thing. Can someone simply tell me how this can be used on threads? (Registration, guest posting?) Is it easy to setup?
(We apparently have ImageMagick 6 installed on our server).
Thanks!

IT can be used on both registration and guest posting; it's as easy as selecting the option on the forum settings for guest posting; and is in the registration settings.
So long as the PATHS to the image magick files are set int he paths directory it should operate just fine.

I setup CAPTCHA on an anony forum and for new user registration. I also turned off the new user queue and email verification. So far, so good. I've been very happy with this setup. I can see anonies signing up and trying to post and they haven't broken in. Their IPs were those that were blacklisted or Google said they had been up to no good.

Yeh, Rick's captcha works out quite lovely... I'm so glad that he spent some time on it... It truely blows many of the others away... I'd love to see it built on in the future though ... New types, and new services (mainly an auditory and the possibility of NetBPM)

I believe in this forum here you can test it as a guest - just log out to see (or use another browser)

Hi
Our new forums are well on the way to looking how I want them, though while our server people told me that we have Imagemagick6 installed on our server, in the "CAPTCHA verification?" filed it only gives me "Disabled" and a message below saying "It appears you do not have access to GD2 or Imagemagick"
Is there some setting I need to check or changed for this to become ok?
Thanks

Did you enter the full path to the convert and morgify programs in the paths and urls section of your control panel?

The UBB needs to know the exact location of two programs installed on the server (these are installed by ImageMagick), they are morgify and convert.
Without knowing WHERE they are, it doesn't know what to do with files that need to be routed through them...
On my server they are /usr/bin/morgify and /usr/bin/convert but they can be installed in numerous locations; you'll need to ask your webhost and then populate the paths in the control panel.

OK thanks, I sent a mail to my server people and got the paths now. Next problem - no image showing on the front end registration page...
