I'm considering making my entire board viewable to registered members only.

Is there a way to provide curious potential members with guest accounts where they can read (but not post) that will expire after a certain period of time?

Currently no, but that definitely sounds like a good feature suggestion. Trying to think of a suggestion that might work in the meantime, but anyway around it, currently it would have to be manually removing the user after the time is up.

I do really enjoy this idea, you could give guest accounts to affiliates, or to someone that you want to check an error, and just have it expire after a week or so... Could be a bonus to not just have idle accounts everywhere which won't ever get used...

I am sure you are aware Mitch - but don't forget that search engines would not be able to view and list your posts.

Thanks Ian, yep, I'm fine with that. I'm appealing to a very niche audience (mainly one state). Promotion is mainly word of mouth and other means. I've got pretty good coverage in google now. I'd magine that will stick, since other parts of my site will still be picked up.
