Hi

Before I prune my forum, I take back up of the database. This is downloaded as a .gz file.

I'd like to be able to extract a couple of tables from this file to create a static archive of the forum. Now the "easy" way to do this would be to close the forum, take copy of the database, upload the file, grab the tables, then upload the latest copy of the database. However I seem to have problems uploading the databse.

Is there a way I can do this locally, does anyone know ?

You could just install MySQL locally on your machine, then import your backup to that. That way you don't have to worry about interrupting the normal operation of your forum.

Thanks, Rick. I'd thought of that, but it never seemed easy (but then, what is). I've got a spare machine in the office, so I'll have a go with that and see how I get on.
