Can you tell I went "live" today? > UBB Error > The host from which you are accessing the board is not recognized as a > valid host. This is more than likely related to a firewall issue that > is blocking the referer variable. Check your firewall settings and try > again. One user, so far, that I know of is getting this and can't post. His IP is not in the ban list.

And possibly sticky in the Bugs Forum, as its regularly being asked about?

Got it, thanks. Added note to that thread, for docs. Much appreciated, as always, even if I don't say it every time. Have some 1800 users breathing down my neck, that's all.

Since it's a safety feature I would not recommend that. agreed. The problem with this feature is based on the users computer vs the owner's server.

Have some 1800 users breathing down my neck, that's all. And i bet you any money it was only one or two members that got in touch about this and not the 1800. The point i'm putting over is this. If its an upgrade from Classic to V7 Threads, its a feature that wasnt available in the past. So when or if a member gets in touch about it your horrified to find the issue bigger than you thought and there are more with the same issue. Why not Disable it as default, in the User Manual have a section called Preventing Spam, then you can cover the http refferer and captcha too in the same area. Mines been off since day one ish due to the problem as alot of my users log in from work places behind firewalls. And ive had NO SPAM. Summary Upgrade -->> Default OFF (Read up about preventing spam)

No no... I disagree. Safety is good. All I NEEDED after this install, was a more clear list of things to do next. Two actually: So, you're finished your install?
Now, do/check the following things: (common sources of error)
1. http headers... 2. run this sql command (until v7.1.1) to loosen permissions in mysql5. 3. blah blah blah
So, you're finished your IMPORT from UBB Classic?
Now, check the following things:
1. Add % to the front of any banned email domains... 2. etc. Fixes are nice, but some things are easier to do in docs, or, only doable through good education.

Great, if you're reading these forums, looking for unofficial ideas and suggestions. Not great, if you're a paying user, who downloads the file, reads the official docs posted with the files, and in the zips. The UBB Docs, never used to need you to read any forums, to get the job done, is my point. If the details are valid, why not add them to the "official" docs. How long does it take, on a validated point, to add it to the html... IMHO. Maybe my simpler point of reference should be, that for me, and I assume many others, the UBB is just a tool, and a means to an end. It shouldn't be expected that we dig and dig, and become active members here, just to get it working.

Well, it's good to keep in mind that, Rick is on his own with threads... Most of the forums are ran by users... All of the moderators here aren't groupee staff, we're simply users. If you have rick updating the webpage every time theres an update needed to an article, he'd be spending a good portion of his coding time each day updating articles.... It's probably also good to note that the man has a family, so I doubt he spends all day every day coding/working on the forums... Not to mention he probably has other obligations as well ... I've submitted several requests for a FAQ forum, or a Wiki addon to the UBB so people can update information, and all that good stuff.

I think actually we'll probably switch over to the forums and maybe some sort of wiki for the docs or at least a good portion of them. The forums are actually easier to maintain than actual docs and it's easy to add contributions to others.
Yes, we definitely need to spend more time on the docs. I've just been focusing on making up for lost time for now in trying to get a few major feature releases out for customers who stuck by us through the long wait for version 7.
