I have some forums on my site that are being used for help or work wanted ads and I would rather push enquiries to PM's instead of people replying in a public post.

I would love to be able to disable just in those forums the ability to post a REPLY. Any ideas on this one guys or maybe in the future this could be a selectable option in the forums setup. In the mean time I would take any code mod's if anybody has any ideas.

Mike

Odd, you know, UBB.C had the option to allow users to post new threads or reply; I completely forgot about it till now lol

Mike,

If I understand your question correctly, try: Control Panel >> Group Management >> [Group Access Tab]. You can also create custom permission groups using the [Group Editor Tab]. Let me know if that works for your situation. I'm still using 7.0.2 so it might be different.

Jim, from what I can tell he wants to allow new posting of topics, but not replys; wheras the permissions system only allows the opposite

Gizmo, I had a feeling I was missing something, thanks.

So this would require something like providing an "Auto Lock Topic" feature option in Forum Settings?

I've had requests for this functionality as well. But it's not a priority yet.

Thanks,
Jim

You know, I'm not sure... See, if a topic is locked, no one can reply to it...

My thoughts are that he's wanting to use it as a helpdesk type thing,, whereas the owner of the thread and mods/admins can post responses to a post... or something  lol

Gizmo is right, I want to be able to allow the creation of a new post but not allow any replies to them. Such as for help wanted ads where I would want replies directly to the poster via PM.

Thanks guys

Mike

That's a feature I'd definitely like to see in ubb.t again smile

I'm missing some of the good old ubb.c features cry
