I have had several people (Firefox users) complain about not being able to see their avatars. When I check using Firefox, I too can't see their avatars, and yet they work fine in IE. But it's certainly not all - only some avatars are not viewable in Firefox.

Has anyone else experienced this? Specifically, has anyone found a solution?

Thanks smile

Generally hear about this with IE users vs FireFox users lol... Curious, are they logged IN on firefox? I believe that when you're not logged in that avitars don't show period

They are definitely logged in. I've logged in to Firefox myself and I can't see their avatars either. It's very strange, and I was hoping that somebody else on UBB had had the problem. I'm totally at a loss. You know how people love their avatars. smile

Yes, but I use IE. I'll check with Firefox. Plus, it's not all avatars, just some of them. For example, in one thread of about 30 posts, only three avatars can't been seen (in Firefox).

Check which Firewall software they are using, they could all be using the same one, which could be causing the problems.

We had one member that drove us nuts with this, but he could see every other image except uploaded ones.

To cut a long storey short, he uninstalled his "FREE" Firewall software and all the images came back.

He was a Fire Fox user too.

Summary :
Firewall software was corrupt.

Ok, I have some more information about this issue. The only avatars that can't be seen in Firefox, are those which have been changed by the user since switching over to the new forum.

Mark, I'll find out about the firewalls. Thanks. smile

I think I found the problem, but I don't know how to fix it. This is how the avatar location is displaying when I view the source:

Code
<img src="http://www.matesupover.com\forums\images\user_avatars/35.gif" alt="" width="100" height="100" />

See that the slashes are going the wrong way. Avatars that were imported with the old database show the correct slashes.

I looked at the IE source, and the slashes are going the wrong way too, but IE doesn't seem to care, while Firefox does.

Again .. remember that this is only happening to avatars that are changed since changing to 7.1.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Looks like your path to the directory may be set wrong... Check your config file (includes/config.inc.php) and ensure all urls/paths use / vs \

Windows server by chance? Or a drunken weekend in vegas? or a wild weekend... or just plain boredom and a bottle of scotch?

Wash your mouth, Gizmo! smile

Nah, we've been burning the candle at both ends, because as well as upgrading the forum, we've totally revamped our entire 6 year-old website. I'd be amazed if we didn't make some errors. smile

(But I'd much prefere it was a wild weekend excuse.) smile
