What's the difference between these two?
  • Reply
When you want to answer a post and take as long as you like.
  • Quick Reply
When you want to answer a post quickly with a one-liner.

Am I understanding correctly? Thanks.

Quick Reply doesn't have all the bells and whistles (graemlins, text formatting, html options, photo and polling options, etc.)

Reply does. smile

Quote and Quick Quote are really just the same. Quote adds the quote to the Reply, and Quick Quote adds it to the Quick Reply.

i'd say you're about right on the definitions trix; basically Quick Reply is when you want to add a response immediately without going off-page; there aren't any "bells and whistles" as rose stated, as it's basically meant for a "quick response" to the topic wink

In reality most of our users use the Quick Reply even if they are posting longer posts. Thats just the real world and why it would be good to get the Instant Graemlin link back in there.

Placing bbcode buttons or dropdown boxes in the QR goes against what it's fore; it's specifically designed as a "no bells and whistles" post area, as the "full reply" page is just a click away (especially in 7.2 when you can click "Full Reply" from the QR box and be directed there with your post content).

Regardless of what I think on the subject, I am simply telling it like it is, and how many people use the forums in reality.... that's all.

I'm not saying your idea is aabsurd, i'm simply pointing out why each page works like it does for users to see; this conversation of weather or not a change would be good has been talked about elsewhere on the forum, i'm not attempting to start it again

"Quick" "Reply", "Quick" ...

"e : capable of being easily and speedily prepared"

Basically if you start adding other stuff to the 'Quick Reply', it wouldn't be 'Quick' anymore.

Thats my $.02 on it.

Off Topic - your site is not very viewable when Flash is not installed or enabled, would be better to detect and offer an alternative view.

Not sure you can claim copyright of 2008 when it's not here yet. laugh
