Not sure if this belongs in here or not, but something that was seriously broken back in 6.5 was the logging of moderator and admin activity, and it doesn't appear to have been fixed in 7.x
Admin logging is very important and I think it would be good to tidy up this side of things and get the logging back to useful.
I'm currently going through a whole load of things that SHOULD be logged and either are not, or are not done correctly..
Starter below, will add more as I do more testing.
1. Deleting a topic - Not logged at all. 2. Moving a topic to another forum - Only information that is logged is that something is moved, and the Extra information is listed as ";;35193;1" which really isn't useful. Would be ideal to have the thread name and the forum it is moved to (and maybe from). 3. Global Annoucement changes - Not logged 4. Delete Post - Not logged at all. Used to be logged ok in 6.5 5. User registration denied - Logged OK and username listed in extra info. Could we maybe also have the reason for denial added into the extra information? 6. User registration approved - Logged but the username is not listed in the extra information only the user number. 7. Edit post - No editing of posts is logged, would be really useful to have this logged, as people often complain that a post has been changed and we dont know which mod has done it. 8. Close thread (now called locking) - Logged but only topic number is shown in the extra information, topic title would be more useful. 9. Editing Portal config and layout - This is logged under UPDATE_LAYOUT and EDIT_CONFIG_FILE. Would it be possible to add a small bit of info in the extra area clarifying which area was changed, ie Portal settings, or Portal Layout, Portal Island change etc? 10. Approve Posts (Deny) - Logged as APPROVE_POSTS with only topic number. Could this be changed to clarify that it wasn't actually approved and the topic title? 11. Approve Posts (Approve) - Logged same as above. Could this be amended to show the title rather than just topic number?

All valid points and sound good to have added to the logged actions.

I was going to work on these for 7.1.1, however I think what I need to do is rewrite the logger completely. Probably so it stores the information in MySQL and displays it differently. Right now, we're limited to what we can display and how much detail we can give. I'm going to put this on my todo list to give it a total overhaul.

Another note, I would like to set loggin on/off outside the control panel. An admin can go into control panel, turn logging of, do their thing and put it on again.

That would make it a bit inconvenient for the average Joe. It would be logged that an admin turned off the logging and then turned it back on. So, if you noticed one of your admins doing that, obviously they are probably doing something they shouldn't be

lol thats awesome that it logs who turns it off and back on lol... I'd like to see some "miscellanious information" provided in a popup, like we have on the active users screen; then you can shove anything in it ...

That would make it a bit inconvenient for the average Joe. okay, true. It was just one of those things I find funny.. just like the main admin ID setting. Main Administrator User Id? This is considered your Super Admin. Other admins cannot edit or change this user. All welcome private messages will come from this user.Any admin can change this setting, so any admin can also edit that so called super admin As a sidenote, while testing, I just found it that as a normal admin you can edit your super admin.

It could be that I still have the old userid of 2 hardcoded as the main admin userid in some places. Will need to check on that to make sure.

I'm a userid of 2. You installed it that way. Does this mean my regular admin can edit my super admin profile?
Just curious. I thought we both had the same powers. What can a super admin do that a regular admin can't? Thanks.

the super admin i believe is the user all welcome pm's are sent through, and i don't think a normal admin can edit this admin.
Though it's not like a normal admin can't go in and change the super admin's uid, edit them, and then change it back...

Will it show up in 7.2 or beyond? It's a big issue for us and we're still running off our 6.5 with the logging hacked back in while we were waiting based on https://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/u...ntey&topic=0&Search=true#Post414If I know the relative priority I can decide whether to re-add what I need to 7.1.1 or possibly wait again. Thanks, Lee
