Now that the Photo Gallery is in the works, I was wondering if it might be possible in a some future version, to incorporate a "Classifieds" type of forum - a place where members could post stuff for sale and other members could purchase via some PayPal interface, similar to what PP-Classifieds does, but maybe not as complex?

Basil This would be great! I have been thinking of a system like this for the last few weeks. On our board we have a trading post forum and if we had a forum interface where posters could fill out a form to list their stuff that would help a lot. Right now we're having to edit posts, delete replies, etc and it is becoming a real pain. Esp now that we can't make the forum "post once, no replies" like in classic.

I could understand this feature on private forums dedicated to common products and topics, the reason that your members joined to begin with but what reason would there be to enable it here?
I'm not being negative, I just don't see what use it would be on UBBCentral. By all means enlighten me, what would you "trade" on here?

It would not need to be "officially" implemented here, except maybe as a demo forum. The reason would be simple - a forum that supports commerce would be a forum that more people would buy. So the use of it here would be for Rick to sell more copies of Threads. Basil

Yeah, we're talking about for actual users.
Look at the popularity of ebay and craig's list. Huge!
Why send your users to those sites when they can stay on your site?
My classified forum gets a lot of activity. I'd love to offer more capabilities for my users. I thought about installing Photopost's classified product, but didn't pull the trigger. Much like the gallery being developed for Threads, I'd love for a classified product to be intertwined as well. I know, a big undertaking, but I hope Rick considers it for the future.

The only thing holding me back on upgrading is the Classified issue. I have PhotoPost Classified, don't really like the interface, and don't want to renew the license. A solution right in the main UBB forums would be FANTASTIC! I'd buy today!

I don't know of any upcoming "classified ad's" feature in the UBB base code...
However, i fail to see what'd be too difficult about just dedicating a forum (or several forums) for users to post ad's.

My Fandabby idea of a Gallery "Classifieds" dropped dead. My Members just enjoy the normal forum format.

However, i fail to see what'd be too difficult about just dedicating a forum (or several forums) for users to post ad's. That's probably what I will have to do. However, I'm currently using PhotoPost Classifieds, and my user base will really miss the ability to upload photos directly to my server. I'll miss the housekeeping functions offered(automatic expirations, automatic renewal emails, etc.) I don't suppose it's possible to upload photos directly to a forum other than gallery?

Well, you could make the Classified Forum for posting ad's a photo gallery forum, then they could upload X amount of photos and use the standard post area to describe the products.
Another alternative would be to enable attachments in that forum, then set the inline photo option to X amount of kb's, so anything under the limit will show "in line" (vs users having to click to see the photo).
Semi curious how photopost does their classifieds though; unfortunately I don't have funding available to purchase said script to take a gander at how it works lol.
