Not sure if I've ask for this or not, but, it would be nice to have the ability to select HTML or UBB while doing an edit to a post.

It's the options you get when you make a post as a mod or admin, or if you have enable HTML posting. If you are a mod or admin that option is not there if you edit your own post, even if you posted it with HTML or UBB code.

Thanks again!!

Actually I was going to ask about that too.

In UBB 6.5x when you created a message you got a choice of MARKUP types like UBB, HTML, HTML-UBB, etc.. You still have the 4 choices in 7.02 (if enabled/allowed)

However in 6.5x once you posted, when you came back to do an edit, even as an Admin you could no longer choose which MARKUP type to use and if it had been HTML it would no longer allow an edit without screwing up the content.

In 7.02 you can now edit (again no choice, but it does seem to work correctly in that the HTML is not screwed up) however you can not go back to Older posts that were imported from 6.5x and edit them, they still get screwed up.

Not sure what the fix is, but if you can select 4 MARKUP types on the initial post then why can't you select on an EDIT ?

How can older posts be edited correctly or repaired so that they can be edited correctly.?

Agree - you can select at the the first post, but not on subsequent posts.

Yeh, I had a complaint a while back about this; I'd really like to be able to change the markup when updating a post...

should have 'gmail like' (ajax) spellcheck, as a part of the editor class too. i have the code required (7.1 mod) to accomplish this, if desired.

mmm, now that'd be sexy... At least then for the firefox users on a non firefox browser won't complain that their spellchecker isn't working wink

This is still a problem. As shown here:
http://www.kixtart.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=138961

Now even as an Administrator it will not allow me to post it as UBB/HTML or make any choice.

I would now need to recode the entire post in pure UBB which is a PITA

REALLY hope 7.3 fixes this for good.

Wow, an ajax spellchecker too. Now that would be worth the price of addmision
get it admission?
right there! I think some people would pay for upgrades for that feature alone.

Spellcheck is one major feature that I know FireFox has built in, I'm not sure about IE though... IMO it's a waste of resources, as it'd have to be maintained, and not all UBB customers are US Citizens, so multiple dictionaries would require upkeep...

IE does not have a spellchecker build into it. I'm sure there are more people using IE then FF so it might just be a good use of resources.

I do agree other languages would be needed, that is for sure. I wonder if there are freeware language packs out there that might make this task easier?

It is certainly not a waste. I am very glad lots of software has build in speller checking. Glad they didn't think it was a waste because other software already had it.

And if I just see the number of times this comes up here, it wouldn't be a waste either smile

there's a free addon to IE that i tested and it works.. that's why i discontinued an ajax spell checker using pspell..

seemed as if it was a diminishing margin of return on my coding investment when both IE and FF had either built in or free solution..

Google toolbar is the spell checker I use. But still, it's easier to refer to "button x" to spell check, instaed of install Y, or Z... But it might be build in... And not every user has the freedom to install whatever software in the computer they are visiting the forum with.

Sorry but I despise ALL addon toolbars especially Google.

Too many times in the past have they "accidentally" allowed personal computer indexes to blend with their public indexes.

They might have it 100% under control now, but after such an SNAFU I still don't trust them, especially for my Corporate computers. I remove their crud every time I find it on a PC.

This is all OFF TOPIC though and if you want an editor in IE please start another thread.
