Hi,

It seems I am unable to search the forum with any word only 3 letters long. Is this true and if so can it be changed?

Thanks

It can be down to your mysql configuration too.
It depends if your on a shared hosting space or dedicated,
either way i don't know how to do it / or if it can,
as its been advised not to due to the loads.

Thanks Mark, so basically you can't search the forum with 3 letter words?

Is there rules or restrictions on searchs, like certain keywords that won't be searched?

There are common words in MySQL that it won't search for.

THE, IF, AND, etc... The MySQL site documentation has a complete list

Yes you can do this; it is not a limitation within UBB.Threads, it is a limitation within MySQL itself and FullText searches and your webhosts configuration.

This relies on the minimum search length set by your webhost; the default I believe is 3 characters, which is why this error comes up.

i believe rick was planning to update the search system to have an option to use the more powerful "full text" searches or the "old" method of searching based on the admin's choice; but i'm not sure when this was schedualed to be updated.
