I just deleted a topic in the gallery, and the image is still linked to on the gallery island, but the files are all gone, so the alt text is shown.

I assume you deleted the Asian girl posting, but not sure what you mean as I don't see any left over images on the Gallery Island.

Maybe just a caching thing for your browser?

That's impossible, as it would be only caching select parts of the page. The content is automatically updated at set intervals, you just were not looking when I was

Deleting via the manage topic dropdown rebuilt the islands, but deleting by edting the post did not. I've fixed this for beta 5.
