Well, they're not changing the thread name, they're changing the subject to reflect their response...

but, you can technically edit the template to remove this ability.

When users have a thread to discuss subject A it is annoying if other start to discuss subject B and change the thread name

Whichj is good if you wanted to move that post and all replies to a new thread

But not to good if the next posted makes a post like "just changing the thread name back to the original"
