Right now the forum buttons don't have their own style - their style comes from .tdheader I think.

What if I wanted my buttons to have a different style? I'm not all that knowledgeable about styles, so I'm wondering - if I managed to add new styles for buttons, how many scripts would that impact? Just asking for a knowledgeable opinion.

Well, the post buttons have their own style; and the button buttons (shout, reset, submit, etc) use a button class...

Curious which buttons you're looking to fiddle with...

New Reply, Topic Options, New Topic, Forum Options - the ones across the top mainly.

Ahh those, yes, they indeed use the "tdheader" class; there are several areas I'd love to see have their own classes so they can be styled directly; such as:
1. the "top" link's cell on each post; if you check out EDH and view a thread you'll see that I style the area just liek the post islands area.
2. Pagination - sooo needs its own classes lol.

For this one, you should be able to style just those buttons by adding an "extra css" for:
.t_standard .tdheader {
}
.t_standard .tdheader a {
}

Then style them appropriately (the "a" line is for how you want the links to look). I haven't looked to see what else this will affect, but I'm sure if you set the color to hot pink you'll obviously note how it looks ...

Giz, can you give me an example of how the extra styles might be written? Don't care what parameters you use, but would like to see an example.

Well, wow lol... Ok...

Look at the source of this page; class="" is shown all over; so thats the specific class for that section, and it's nested in another class, or table, or whatnot it shows another class...

Well, since you want to specify a certain area as to not mess with the option globally, you'd try to specify it out as clear as possible; so we do that in this case as what I posted above; go view the source of this page and search for "manage topic" and it shows the classes of that cell, and the table it's nested in; which is how i reached to what i posted above.

There are other things to update to, if it's a table you can use "table", break can be "br", etc.

They have to be prefixed as:
id - #id
class - .class
tag - tag

So if I added a style to the "Extra Properties", and called it say, .buttons .. it might look something like this?

font-size: 8pt;
color : #FFFFFF;
background-color : #A4A4A4;
border-width: 1px 0px 0px 1px;
border-color: #EBF3F9 #334759 #334759 #EBF3F9;
border-style: solid;
padding: 4px;
}

You wouldn't want to do that, as .buttons isn't a class that exists in the UBB code; but yeh, that's what it'd look like.
