I made what i thought was a simple edit to the search.tpl

<option value="w">{$lang.WEEK}</option>
<option value="m">{$lang.MONTH}</option>
<option value="y" select="select">{$lang.YEAR}</option>
</select>

TO simply change the default newtype to 1 year instead of 1 week.

Now my advanced search page doesnt work at all.

how do i fix it? or can someone email me the default template?

The default template will still be in your install archive. Please note that no one will provide the template files to you other than the archive as there is a very thin line regarding the licensing agreement and sharing files.

as to the minor change i made...
i simply want to default to 1 year instead of 1 week. why didnt my edit work?

m'not sure, your best bet is inquiring over at ubbdev with what you're shooting for as hacks to threads are slightly out of topic here.

It didn't work because the attribute is 'selected="selected"'
