Refer to attachment.

Seemingly overnight, all threads/posts at the subforum index are indicated as unread (new), when they aren't. Visiting any of the subforums confirms that they aren't new.

I've tried deleting cookies, clearing browser and ubb.t cache, and no dice.

I'm not sure if this is a "bug" or just a weird state I've found myself in? Any ideas?

I'm also impressed with those subforums with more new posts than actual posts

Impressive indeed!

Could this be related? My Control Panel reports that the includes directory is not writeable when it attempted to update config.inc.php. Checking the permissions via ftp shows that includes/ is rwxrwxrwx and config.inc.php is rw-rw-rw-.

Is it just you that's having this issue, or is it happening to everyone on your board?

I have had a few members in the past say the same even after clearing their cookies. I tell them to shift refresh and it clears it for them.

It's now fixed.

After raising a ticket, the hosts informed me that there was a misconfiguration on the server which my account resides on.

Everyone can relax now smile

I'm happy for a mod to close this thread and/or retitle it as not a bug.

No idea unfortunately. When I said "misconfiguration of the server" that was pretty much a direct quote.

When I suggested that their apache server might be running with no privs I received no response, which I found to be rather rude. I don't mind being told that I'm wrong or don't know what I'm talking about, provided they justify it. But ignoring a suggestion (which was phrased as a question) I find to be unprofessional. </rant>

I get it on here. Have tried deleting cookies, marking all read with both IE7 & FF but nothing changes. Also, even though the forum list displays unread posts, there are none displayed when I enter the forums.

Just yanking this one out again as the problem has resurfaced for me.

Previously I was with a shared host, and after opening a support ticket they apparently changed a setting with the server's configuration (no further details given) which seemed to fix the problem.

This time I've moved to a new, dedicated host. Post tracking in regular forums seems to be fine, but all sub-forums are showing everything as new at the index level (refer to attached image in first post).

Any ideas as to why this is happening? I'm still on ver 7.1.

Gah! Traps for young players -- check permissions after relocating! Ignore my post above, my problem was due to permissions not being correct.

s'all good now.
