Hi there,
I remember that this forum used to have 2 versions (at least??), one of them was file based and the other was mysql. From what I recall one of them had a default yellow skin.
Now I go to infopop and I see groupee, and there is also eve____ (can't remember the URL now).
So what happend?? Was there a buyout? Change of company direction?

Basically there are a couple different divisions of the main company, Groupee. There is the Eve development, which is the hosted application. Groupee, which is the social networking site, and then UBB.threads, which is the downloadable product you're using here.
There used to be a UBB.classic as well, the file based one that you're thinking of, but that was discontinued in June of last year. So, everything is pretty much still the same beyond that, just growing.
Hopefully that clears things up a bit. If not, just ask.

The reason why UBB.classic was discontinued is that it became internal competition with UBB.threads. There were some users of UBB.classic that refused to upgrade to Threads, and some users wanted a PHP version of UBB.classic. Infopop then planned a PHP/MySQL product that was supposed to replace UBB.classic and UBB.threads. It would have featured the look and feel of UBB.classic with some of the features of UBB.threads. In the end, much of the core of UBB.threads ended up being used. Former UBB.classic developer Charles Capps left Groupee afterwards. Since most forum software is now written in PHP/MySQL, it made sense to keep UBB.threads and drop UBB.classic. UBB.classic was simply uncompetitive with other forum software.
Just to let you know that the UBB.threads 7.x series is not a simple upgrade from older versions of UBB.threads; it requires an import. I would highly recommend UBB.threads over other forum software such as vBulletin.

UBB.T7 is completely reworked, so Rick could fix portions that he wasn't comfortable with in the old codebase
