I just noticed, if I'm not logged in on our discussion board the avatars don't show up? Did something change? Did I just notice this before? They do show up after I've logged in.
Is there a way to keep the avatars always on?

This was a bug in 7.1.1 and prior where it wouldn't show avatars to users that aren't logged in. We've fixed this one in 7.2.

I don't want SE's tolling my bandwidth trying to snag avitars... I hope someday we'll have a tick to allow guests to view avi's or not :/

Isn't that a global "for everyone" setting? Don't get me wrong, I WANT avitars, I don't want guests to see them...

That's the default board setting like the other display settings. Users can override that in their profile, but since anonymous users don't have a profile, they go by the board default.

Well, again, i'd want it to default "off" for guest, and "on" for users, so not really a viable option...
Curious, if i set "do not delete" to no avitars, will guests see things this way?

Actually, that is a viable option. If you look at the database, the default entry for USER_SHOW_AVATARS is set to 1. So any new users will have this set to show them. Only guest users follow the control panel setting.

By viable option, I meant the fact that you if you set the control panel open to not show avatars, only guests will not see them, logged in users will still see them by default.

Yeah, by the time you've asked all these questions and I've responded, you could have registered a test user to find out No, all new users will always have it set to show them by default. The control panel option strictly applies to users that aren't logged in. I should probably clarify that in the control panel wording.
