We rely heavily on password protected forums in the UBB.Classic. We came to a realization that this functionality don't appear to be available in the UBB.Threads. Is that a correct realization, or am I missing something?
As for why this was very important, and why groups will be a pain for this... well, we've got *numerous* customers, and we allow each of them to have their own private forum. If we restrict based on groups, then we have to constantly add/remove users as each customer has staff changes.
I'm hoping I'm just missing this feature's configuration and that it isn't really gone.
Thanks, Tim

As part of current core, it is not there as you describe.

I'm hoping that we eventually have "group owners", where you have "leads" of a group who can freeley "moderate" (add, remove, update) groups... Then it's not relying on admin's and can be pushed to a moderator (or even just a group owner) level...

It looks like we are just going to create groups for each of these forums, add the folks that we think should go into each, and then manage them manually. It would be nice to have the group leader concept to let the main customer contact add folks, but then what is scary, is that they could accidently add the wrong folks, so I guess I'm not really keen on that (at least for us.)
Thanks, Tim

Well, if using passwords, people can guess, or share passwords... people even write down passwords... I think I for one would rather trust a staff adding users versus assuming a password hasn't been handed out

The idea was that they hand out the passwords freely to their staff. Then the staff registers for an account, and has access to the forum for their site. That means no administration is done at our site. If someone leaves their site and they need to change, the sites password is changed to what they request, and the burden of notifying the appropriate site is on them. It's worked great for us for several years now.

Not currently. Not even in 7.3 that I'm aware of
Perhaps in some future update.
