I have made many users moderators, but I discovered that as I assign them permissions, they only have those permissions in forums for which they are specifically designated as a moderator.

Is there a way to be some sort of global moderator without adding them to every single group? In the past we just made them Admins as we had security by obscurity with the cp.cgi being a seperate script. But, now with the control panel link at the top, things can be a little more dangerous.

Cool! Dare I ask what the anticipated time schedule is for 7.3.

well, this gets asked frequently and i really can't say.. sooo...

one thing i can say is that he (Rick) has been fairly regular in releases, so you could guestimate it by just looking at prior release dates and their intervals... this is by no means a scientific guarantee, but a close guess.

I've been trying to keep it at about a 3 month release cycle, that's been pushing closer to 4 with these first few releases since 7.0 was put out since there are a variety of other things going on as well, like importers.

Now I noticed you didn't say that it wouldn't make it into 7.3. Does that mean I can let the powers that be know that it is in the future (although I won't specify a particular time frame.)

Yes, the permission system is getting revamped for 7.3, and Super/Global Moderators will be put in. I just have to figure out the best way to do it and fit into the default Groups, since I didn't leave a placeholder for them with the other default ones.

FYI, I've been bugging Rick for GM's since 7.0; he finally threw me a bone with 7.3 ...

It'd seem I owe him cookies now... lol
