Hi,
It would be nice if we could preserve the exif info in images in the gallery.
As far as I can tell we are stripping it out.

Essentially it is all the various information recorded by the camera when the photo is taken.
Camera, lens, iso, focal length etc...
This is pretty essential for a photography type site and is usally preserved unless stripped, which is what threads appears to eb currently doing.

I wasn't aware of exif - never heard of it at all actually. Really showing my ignorance, now! I suppose on a photography forum it may be essential - but is it necessary on a day-to-day 'pics' type of forum? Just asking

It's always nice to have exif info. No need to ask "hey, that's a cool pic, which camera did you use, which settings did you use", it's all there.
I agree not striping out the information would be a cool thing, for every forum. Well, actually it's not stripped, the info is just not copied over to the resized image.

I'd like to see this preserved; as someone who enjoys taking photos, it gets annoying being asked every technical aspect of the shoot... the EXIF data contains just about anything one could want to know!

BTW, PHP has several EXIF options built in (assuming it was built with --enable-exif) as of PHP4.3 clicky (though on Windows they require mbstring which some hosts may not have).

When I think good idea, I think giving everyone your home phone number.
If only Rick would give me his msn or something so I could bother him without the need for forums
