Being that I work for a large Software Co that remains nameless and wont allow me to use FF at work I must use IE7. Why are my Avatar and Signature images here showing in FF but not IE7? Firefox seems to load these forums much faster than IE7 I noticed This error (HTTP 406 Not Acceptable) means that Internet Explorer was able to receive information from the website you visited, but the information was not in a format that Internet Explorer can display.
For more information about HTTP errors, see Help.

Sounds like their proxy server is filtering out the images (as the error is Not Acceptable it's commonly known for something being blocked)

I am actually at home on Comcast though . Oh how strange..now IE7 is dsplaying them. I get this same error sometimes when I perform certain control panel functions as well with IE7. The last one I remember was approving a new user registration. Sometimes when I get the "please wait while we return you to the page" it ends up as a 406 error as well. Then I cannot even use a book mark to go to the main site, I actually have to open a new browser window and reopen the page. I am thinking there must be some sort of issue with IE7 and Tabs maybe? I got the above error when I actually put the image URL in a tab of an allready open browser . Opening a new browser must have fixed it.

Well, generally when I see a 406 error it's related to mod_security, an apache module which does a load of checks to ensure no known malformed url exploits can "own" a server; it'd make sense that this would be occouring for you in some areas, but the image area i figured it would likely have been a proxy server deriving an error.
what do your weblogs say on the server at these timeframes?
