Yeah, I know, it is very old...
The question: If we are going to upgrade to the latest version, is it worth the extra effort to upgrade to 6.5 to make the 7.0 jump?
I have little time for problems, not even sure about an upgrade... can one jump to 6.5 without going live, then jump to 7 ?? Is this process going to be fairly easy?
Thanks for your input...

The upgrade to 6.5.5 is mandatory, the 7.x importer only works with the 6.5.x version of ubb.threads.
You don't have to go live with your 6.5.x.
And while the proces is fairly easy, I would opt for a test on a backup system first.

Yes, it's definitely "worth it" as it's a requirement; as yarp said, the importer was made for 6.5 and will not work (At least not properly) with prior versions (outside of 6.5).

Don't worry - many people are on far older copies. Problem is nothing older than the 7 series is supported officially now and they have all come to EOL, therefore if a security issue is discovered then it will be unlikely to be patched.
