hi all!
i got a demo going.
i'm looking for forum software that gives members flat and threaded (member choice) --i UBBthreads has that(?).
BUT... i HAVE to have the ability to allow my users to choose to *Expand and Collapse* the topics.
can UBBthreads do that?
did wwwthreads become UBBThreads? i know there is still a wwwthreads that was once commercial --that one did Expand and Collapse topics.
if UBBthreads does not expand, does anyone know if there is any software that does?
that would mark a real void in the available forum software IF there is none anymore.
please help us out!

wwwthreads was the original name, then around 5 years ago when Infopop (now Groupee) purchased the software the name changed to UBBthreads. Rick has always been the main developer of the software from day one and continues to this day The software allows for both threaded and flat views and allows the user to switch on the fly between the two. I think the software will be perfect for your requirements and is the only forum software that I know of to offer both flat and threaded views on the fly. Enjoy

Oh I see you mean within the postlist view. This is not a current option I am afraid. Although all templates can be customised

This was removed from the list of features during the 7.0 rewrite due to the excessive resources it required. We'll probably add this back in at some point, once we can figure out a way that it doesn't require so much CPU/MySQL useage.

wwwthreads became ubbthreads - I would not advise running any older version of any software. ubbdev is a good place for requesting modifications

6.5.5 is still in the Members Area. If you really must have that, then you could possibly run that version until we get the feature re-added to the 7 series. You'd need to keep in mind that that version is a couple years old now and it may be a while before we get the feature readded.

Rick, it strikes me that we could likely add something like what I put in the new FAQ to expand/collapse responses in threaded view; I think it'd be "acceptable" for any users who're looking for this type of functionality and wouldn't add (much) load...

The member area is only available to subscribers; I believe you can upgrade your WWWThreads license to UBB.Threads; but I don't know there.
As for testdriving, I don't think theres a demo for UBB.T6 as it's outdated and isn't being worked on any further.

You can testdrive it for the userside of things at an existing running ubbthreads 6.5.x install. I know the beyond compare support forum still uses 6.5.4 so you could take a look there for how a user sees things.

Just trouble us, we don't mind 99% of the case is just following the manual and voila, things are up and running. I don't know about any "old verions" discount, but you can take advantage of the 10 year anneversery sale that's going on right now.

I believe WWWThreads users have a discount; you'll need to contact Groupee Sales however.

No - that is in 7.2.x As Gizmo said if you have a wwwthreads licence you can upgrade to the most recent copy (6.5.5) for around $40 If you have never purchased wwwthreads or ubbthreads then you will need to purchase before getting a copy of these versions. The price to purchase is now less that it was when 6.5.5 came out - so I guess it is at a discount - unless you wish to pay the higher price as it was then

No - that is in 7.2.x There was no built in gallery prior to 7.x series of forums. Only external third party options.

Your best bet is to look at a current 6.5 forum for feature options; 7.x added quite a few from both products; and some that are new to 7.x as well.

Several items are still to be added into 7.x - these will come with time.
7.x was a massive rebuild, and I am sure that before long threads will be one of the most feature rich forums available for one set price.

Keywords: One set price.
Other forum solutions may offer these same features, but charge additional fees for "addons"; whereby we include them all for free, in the base product... Not to mention, our vast modification community, UBBDev.

6.x is no longer developed, so you're stuck with its feature set unless you want to upgrade to a newer version. Features left out of 7.x where left out due to unacceptable load they caused on servers; they will be (eventually) added back once code can be streamlined.
