Hi,
i have it set on my forum so that if people want an avatar they have to either use the forum ones or provide a link to their own. When i tried to add an avatar to my profile using the provide a link option it changes the size of it to fit the avatar area ... which distorts the picture.
Is there any way I can stop it from doing this?
cheers Djuma

It should remain as the size you have set, up to whatever you have set as the maximum size under profile settings within your control panel.
If you have set say 80 x 80 in your control panel and one dimension is greater than this, then it will alter the size.
If both sides are lower, then no change should take place.

Hi Ian,
The original avatar is 80 x 68, but it is changing to be 80 x 80 which distorts the picture.

Hmm, can you try uploading that avatar here so we can figure out if it works here and is just isolated to your site or if it happens everywhere?
The only time it should resize an image that is smaller than max width/height settings is if for some reason the server can't figure out what the current size is at all.

I tested it here with a smaller avatar and had no issues

Thanks Ian & Rick,
It's fixed now.
For those doing a search for the answer to this problem, the problem was that I was linking to an avatar and not uploading it to a directory.
