No doubt this has come up before, but I couldn't find a thread about it . . .

When a user posts an image that is wider than the standard width of the post window, the post window shows a horizontal scroll bar and keeps the photo nicely contained within the post window. That is, IF the user is using Firefox as his browser. All other browsers just expand the window and blow out any thing that is to the right of the post window.

I'm using 7.1. Is this a problem that is fixed in 7.2?

No it's not fixed in 7.2 or 7.3 (I'm holding my breath that it will be fixed in 7.4 ... agghhh out of breath...)

IE6 and IE7 are the ones most often that are unable to handle it due to how it interprets CSS code.

The programmers for UBB are aware of it and methods to correct it have been discussed.

Now maybe it's a race to see if UBBT fixes it first or if IE8 comes out first. IE8 is on the way and it shows signs of following standards better than Firefox

MS follow standards? What a concept!

Thanks for the insight. Guess I'll have to find a workaround in the meantime.

I fail to see why we have to fix IE's shotty interpretation of CSS when the *official* standards state how it SHOULD work and M$ decides to be inventive on how they want things to work wink...

Amen, brother. They really should change the name to Mediocre Soft ("When you want the best, you get Mediocre.")

If FF was following the STANDARD that you keep crying about Giz then it would pass the ACID2 test but it falls flat on it's face.

It's called CUSTOMER SATISFACTION and it has nothing to do with what browser YOU like.

If I want to sell you something and it works great for me, but falls on it face for you, guess what.... YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BUY IT from me. That's what is has to do with in a nutshell (IMHO)

(someone woke up on the wrong side of the rock this morning; he blatantly attacked me directly with little argument or thought of my feelings... Thank goodness this is a family friendly forum, otherwise I'd have mentioned where he could shove his rather direct comments)

To be honest at times I prefer MS - what I like about FF is small things like remembering what sites were open in various tabs when you restart your computer.

FF has bugs like any other product.

Well concerning the above post I agree with you Gizmo that it is a bit aggressive and I apologize. Since I'm not currently a Moderator I can not modify the original posting, but here below hopefully is a better rendition of what I meant the post to be.

If FF was following the standard that many advocates of FF claim, then it would pass the ACID2 test, but it does not currently pass that test.

Customer Satisfaction is the issue at hand as I view it, and has nothing to do with what browser anyone prefers over another.

If I want to sell someone something and it works great for me, but fails to work for them, they're not going to buy it from me.

That to me is why UBBT authors should be concerned about fixing it and not just waiting for some day
to see if Microsoft will fix IE to correct this and other issues.
