This is kind of an off the wall question, but can someone tell me how I might make a duplicate forum. I want to make a forum that has a similar name to an existig forum and I want the secong forum to have the exact same threads/posts and membership as the first forum. FOr example, I have one forum, we'll call Forum1 and it had about 700 threads. I want to make another fourm Forum1-1 that has the exact same threads and posts that are currently in the first forum. I want both forums to exist, but the groups that will have access to each will be different.

Thanks for any insight,
Basil

There is no problem to run several message boards with the same database and you can set things so they look different
You will need a license for each domain

No, you misunderstand - I don't want a complete duplicate message board...I just want ONE of my forums to be dupliacted with a slightly different name, but I want that new forum to have all the same posts/topics that are in the current forum. Just one forum duplicated, not the whole BBS.

It can be done, but would have to be done in steps I think.

One to create the new forum in UBBT then from command line or may from mysqladmin copy the table contents into the newly created table.

That's just a cursory view without actually diving into it and looking at the code.

Agree with NT, it'd take steps, and he pinned it on the head; the data from forum A would have to be copied to forum B

sorry.
Yes you create a new forum with the name you want
Then you move all threads from one forum to the other but you keep a copy on the forum you moved them from
Then you just do the small changes you want to have in each forum

From then on the forums will have their own lifes and what is posted in one will not be seen in the other. Maybe that is not what you want smile

you may need a tweak from one of the pros!

Ok, thanks - I finally figured out that the CP has a move function I guess I had forgotted about. I used that and it worked like a charm.
