After I install w3t on my server, and follow all 9 steps to the letter, I run createtable.php like it asks me to. This is immediately what I get:
Fatal error: Failed opening required '/home/arcnet/public_html/threads/www/languages//generic.php' in main.inc.php on line 84
I looked at line 84 of main.inc.php, and this is what it says:
require ("$config[path]/languages/$user[newlanguage]/generic.php");
What caught my attention was the $user array. If I haven't even set up a user database, why is it trying to access user data?
My host has 3 versions of php installed on the server, and I believe the default is 3.1.something. I know he has 4.0.6 installed, but I can't seem to find how to make w3t use it instead of the default. I think that might solve the problem.
Any Ideas?

Refer to <a target="_blank" href=http://www.wwwthreads.com/php/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=phpbugs&Number=40055>this thread</a> for a fix...
In particular the last post I made today in that thread.

Didn't work. I get the same error, its just on a different line, because of the ones I added.
Keeping in mind I can't even run createtable.php to install the database, because this error shows up on every single page. Is there a required minimum version of php needed to run the scripts correctly? I really think thats the problem, because we have installed the software on another server with php4 instead of 3.0.9, and it worked like a charm, the first time.

Yes, currently the scripts will not work on PHP3 because of some of the calls that are used so PHP4 is necessary. You can find out what version of PHP the default is by creating a file like test.php and placing the following lines in it:

<? phpinfo[); ?>

When you bring this up in your browser it will give all of the details about which version of php is associated with the .php extension.

That's how I came up with 3.0.9, heh
